@Vijay_NT @raghav_chadha Then there should be option for ding the income tax jointly with family, where standard deduction is higher like it is done in USA. If a single person is earning in the family then he must get some relief

because Personal Income of a Person is HIS/HERs alone. It can't be clubbed with someone else's, just for the sake of reducing Tax. If a person wants to marry a House wife/Home Maker, the decision is His. He has decided to earn on behalf of his wife as well. This decision has no bearing on his obligation to pay Income tax as per his earnings.

In Parliament today I proposed optional Joint filing of Income Tax Returns for married couples. Family A Both spouses earn ₹10 lakh each. Total household income is ₹20 lakh. Tax: zero Family B One spouse earns ₹20 lakh. The other stays home to raise their child. Total household income is ₹20 lakh. Tax: ₹1.92 lakh The only difference is how the salary is split between the two spouses. One roof. One kitchen. One household budget. But when tax time comes, the family disappears. The tax system sees two individuals. A husband and wife become strangers. No clubbing of income or rebates. In Parliament today I proposed optional joint filing of Income Tax Returns for married couples, so families with uneven incomes are not unfairly penalised. If implemented, then Family A and Family B both will pay Zero Tax.

India is 100% digital… but bankers are still working on a 1995 timetable. UPI runs 24×7. ATMs work 365 days. Digital payments never sleep — only bankers are expected to. 🔹 90% routine banking is mobile & UPI, yet humans follow a 6-day “legacy protocol.” 🔹 Cash counters dropped by 60–70%, but pressure didn’t get the memo. 🔹 Technology upgraded instantly; human recharge time is still “under review.” 🔹 A 6-day week fuels burnout and fatigue — clearly not the smartest digital upgrade. 🔹 5-Day Banking saves thousands of crores, but rest is still treated as a premium feature. The irony is that India built a lightning-fast digital economy but forgot to update the humans running it. The simple truth is bankers are asking for 5-Day Banking not for comfort, but because humans — unlike machines — need a restart. #5DayBankingNow

When the world is moving to a 4-day week, and banking is already 24x7 in the digital era, bankers asking for a 5-day week isn’t a luxury. It’s justice. IBA has agreed. The understanding is signed. Now the Government must honour its commitment – no more excuses, no more delays. Respect the Settlement. Deliver it. We demand #5DayBankingNow

@FinMinIndia @DFS_India @nsitharamanoffc @RBI In the era of Digital India when smart banking should be the mark of VIKSIT BHARAT we are still following back dated idea of 6 days Banking. Long pending demand of #5DayBankingNow should be implemented immediately unconditional.

The implementation of #5DayBankingNow cannot remain caught between acknowledgment and action. The understanding was formally recorded, and bankers have continued to deliver consistently amid increasing operational and digital demands. With banking services now functioning 24×7 through digital channels, the pressure on human resources has only intensified. Despite this, the agreed outcome of a five-day workweek remains unimplemented. Bankers have honoured the settlement in both letter and spirit every working day. Policy commitments deserve the same seriousness in execution. Assurances are meaningful only when translated into outcomes. It is time to move from intent to implementation, and from files to facts. #5DayBankingNow

@Tejasvi_Surya @TheOfficialSBI Sir, the officers in PSBs get transferred to all over India every 2-3 years. How do you expect them to learn each state’s language. There are local clerical staffs and other officers as well with whom the customer can interact in their language and get the work done.

This behaviour by @TheOfficialSBI Branch Manager is simply not acceptable. If you are doing customer interface work in Karnataka, especially in a sector like banking , it is important to communicate to customers in the language they know. Being adamant like this is simply not right. I have time and again raised this issue of mandatorily posting local staff or staff who know the local language in banking operations, both inside and outside Parliament. Just a few weeks ago, at a Public Accounts Committee meeting, I had raised this issue to the DFS Secretary who assured me action will be taken to follow a office notification that makes this requirement of local language knowledge compulsory. Looks like this still isn’t being enforced properly. I urge the concerned at @TheOfficialSBI to immediately implement the DFS policy that mandates local language requirement. I have spoken to concerned authorities to take action against this manager who has behaved in this manner. Banks working in Karnataka should serve customers in Kannada. Period.
