As an upper middle class resident of Delhi, I am happy to give up the car altogether. I can’t drive and I don’t have anyone to chauffeur me around. I like to walk and walking 7 or 8 kms a day is absolutely okay. Public transport or Uber for the rest. This is what I do whenever I am outside India. With zero hassles. Give me footpaths which are usable and safe streets. Why are austerity- peddlers not talking about this? Is it because they have not walked in recent times and have no clue what it is to be a woman in a north Indian city and walk?

Mechanical sweeper or pollution emitter? @MunCorpGurugram @OfficialGMDA On Golf Course Road, Gurugram, the machine is: – Emitting visible dust from the top (possible filter failure) – Creating dust clouds on the road while moving (dry sweeping?) 📍Video via @abhishekdpsisb (DLF Golf Course Road, 30 April 2026) Further, similar mechanical sweeping vehicles/dumpers were seen offloading dust and debris onto vacant land on the same stretch at -1 AM a day prior, as recorded by citizen @Rishabh14238089: x.com/rishabh1423808… Mechanical sweeping is meant to curb exactly this kind of dust-yet the operation appears to be spreading it. Requesting urgent clarification: • Who is the contractor operating these machines? • Which officer/engineer is responsible for on-ground supervision? • Are SOPs (water spray, vacuum filtration, scientific disposal) being enforced? • What action will be taken for this apparent non-compliance? Without accountability, clean air measures risk becoming pollution sources. Strict administrative action is needed. @CAQM_Official @CPCB_OFFICIAL @DC_Gurugram @HspcbS @HspcbN @Haryana_spcb @pcmeenaIAS @PradeepIAS_HR #Gurugram #AirPollution #DustPollution #CleanAir #Accountability #MechanicalSweeping #UrbanGovernance
