@sumo_tim The banzuke makers tend to go slow, so likely Kirishima gets the west sekiwake, and Oho and Abi the next rung. At first I thought they might promote Gonoyama, but I’m now 99% sure they’ll just slide Abi over.

@tesol81 I’m not even sure who my Sekiwake and Komusubi should be. The general gist of where people should be is fine but there are so many that could fall any number of ways and that worries me.

@sumo_tim Interesting you should say that. I haven’t finalized my guess but at least the top half of the banzuke seems relatively straightforward.

@acgarcia2012 Thing is that Maegashiras have been going all out at Ozekis for a while. How much more all out can they go? Does this mean they are going to let their guard down against the remaining Ozeki?

@sumo_tim One thing's for sure, Maegashira guys will go all out for that kinboshi! Gonna be an exciting tournament :)

I’ll be interested to see how the other rikishi respond to Hoshoryu’s promotion. Will the remaining Ozekis look more motivated, will people be coming after him and each other? Will it be business as usual.

Hakuho Cup flashback: They look back 10 years to the 5th iteration and its Champion, Kawazoe. His semifinal bout is first, against Ishioka (now Takerufuji). Then, the finals against Takahashi (now Shirokuma). That final required a torinaoshi rematch.

@Sumo_Jason So they can either be reinstated or go to another heya that was rejected as a location the first time round.

@IndoAudit14 I think we’d all love to see him re reach Takayasu level. Feels like an ambitious but achievable result from here.

@sumo_tim Glad to hear from him. If he's really fit, he will only need 3-4 basho before reaching Juryo; however, I personally doubt he's still a sanyaku contender. Maybe around middle maegashira, like Papayasu.

My @duolingo lessons got dark...or they're prepping me for the Japanese dub of "The Princess Bride." Or maybe Baby Bear from Goldilocks is back for some revenge.
