@Serem001 Uk just doesn’t do that many regular tests but the US does on the same missiles. No point wasting $30 million when the us does regular launches

Reminder that the last succesfull UK trident launch was in 2012. 2 test came after one went completely off cource and the last one ended instantly. UK has no real nuclear deterent its program is a paper tiger.

@tomieinlove The "scandal" is that he's having a vacation in the midst of an international crisis after having told off a former PM for doing the same. I don't know why they mentioned the price.

I go to uni in one of those towns where the uni is the sole thing that’s there and I’ve always wondered how regular people and families live in places like that.

We’re talking about a man who throws thousands of his people in jail yearly just for Facebook posts. He’s happily impoverishing millions to achieve his grand ‘climate’ goals. His career was in thwarting government efforts to deport and extradite terrorists. He keeps our borders open and turns a blind eye to the women getting gang raped outside churches. Don’t start feeling sorry for him - he wouldn’t extend you the same courtesy.

Keir Starmer jetted off for a four-day luxury family Easter break at a £200-a-night four-star boutique hotel in Valencia, complete with rooftop bar and pool. While lounging in the sun and sipping café con leche in a public square, Trump was issuing ultimatums to “obliterate” Iran’s power plants and warning Tehran they’d be “living in Hell.” Starmer stayed put despite the escalating crisis, five years after he slammed Boris Johnson for holidaying as Kabul fell, declaring: “You cannot coordinate an international response from the beach.” Macron spent the weekend on emergency calls with Trump and Iran’s president. Starmer? Not so much. Priorities

@100kDiary The biggest wealth destroyer in this country is the level of taxation. Stop blaming people for living.

🇬🇧 Chris | The £100k Journey
The biggest wealth destroyer in the UK right now is PCP car finance. People on a £32k salary will happily lock themselves into a £500/month contract for a Mercedes they will never actually own, just to sit in gridlocked traffic on the M25 and try to impress people in the lane next to them. Then they get to the office and complain that taxes are too high and the government is holding the working class down. If you put that £500 a month into an S&P 500 ISA instead of a rented German car, you'd be a millionaire by retirement. Stop blaming the Prime Minister for your own terrible capital allocation. Your car isn't an asset. It's an anchor.

@Electrofountain @londonHenryGB My rationale is more around starving the government of revenue. This country needs to get its spending under control. I hope more young people follow this strategy

@surrey78124 @londonHenryGB Well done you! Even if you don't contribute anymore you'll have a stonking pension by 58. I think the lifetime allowance was abolished, there's just a limit on the cash lump sum you can take.

It was introduced in 2010 as a temporary measure. The threshold has NEVER risen. And still stands 16 years later. Any tax policy that makes people work less, not take a promotion, or force pension contributions is bad policy. Be done with it.

@Electrofountain @londonHenryGB I’m fortunate in that i have very little outgoings (parents have a large house in zone 2, so havent moved out) anything above £50k goes straight into pension. Managed to build up a pension pot of £800k by the age of 30. Next worry is going to be lifetime allowance

@londonHenryGB I'm definitely retiring early as a result of this. Literally everything over 100k goes straight into the pension so as soon as I hit 58 I'm out. It's driving less consumption now and takes out productivity in the future. It's stupid.

I bet our granddaughter Poppy’s never had avocado toast in her life. Hasn’t eaten bread since 2023. Something about gluten and her chakras. We’ve spent more on her gap years than we paid for the Cornwall house. But she needs the support. There’s no one else to help her. Alfie’s fine. He finally agreed to these night shifts at the NHS. We love all our grandchildren equally.

On our last cruise I tried the avocado toast Alfie's always going on about. All inclusive in the £4,500 ticket. Margaret flat out refused. £14 for green bread. Now I know why the boy can't afford a house. Nearly rang the solicitor to remove him from the will. 🇬🇧🚢

The movements like MAGA evolve with leadership and threats. The tension here seems to be over whether current actions (e.g., against Iranian nuclear capabilities or regional threats) serve American interests by deterring adversaries who could eventually target us, or risk overextension. Healthy debate within the right on war powers, constitutional limits, and real costs/benefits strengthens policy not division. Both 'America First' purists and pragmatists want a stronger, safer republic. Let's debate the specifics with data on threats, costs, and alternatives rather than pitting the ideal against the movement.

@theuncle73 Pretty much every person I’ve ever known to have had an ice cream van seems to be absolutely minted. Many also buy a few vans and then loan them out. £3/4 per ice cream. Easily average 30 people an hour during prime hours after 12ish. Probably clearing £750+ a day minimum.
