@BraedendotTECH Simple solution: let 5.6 sol Ultra create like 10prs for the whole feature then just read the code. I don't bother with AI shit summaries

I'm 33 and I think Claude Code is melting my brain. For 6 months straight I've had 5-6 terminals open at once, waiting on responses just to smash "enter" 90% of the time. That's the whole job now. And it's doing something to me. A few friends and I keep circling back to the same thing in conversations: none of us feel as sharp as we used to. Maybe it's just us. But I keep wondering how many other people in their 30s feel it too. (And yeah: this is a me problem, how I lean on the tool, not the tool itself. Doesn't make the effect any less real.)

I’m convinced that a large % of programmers don’t actually like computers. As a side effect, are also perfectly happy to throw away their reasoning to a model as soon as they can. I don’t get it, at ALL. Don’t you *LIKE* understanding the magic of the machine? You do realize hand-programming (I hate that I even have to specify hand now) is fun…right?

You meet a lot of beautiful, vibrant young people with ugly philosophies because they are still fresh and the ugliness hasn't had time to eat away at them. You can meet a slim, dark-haired girl in a club who calls herself a succubus and whispers in your ear that she wants to take your soul out through your lips, and you'll think yes, yes, of course, losing your soul can't be that bad if it looks this beautiful. The most handsome, lithe man you'll ever meet will hold your hand and smile while he talks about how if he ruled the Earth, he'd kill every rich person, every priest, every single mother—and you'll smile back, unthinking, because his face is like a sunset. But nobody can stay beautiful for long with such ugliness inside them. Maybe it takes 5 years. Maybe it takes 40. But eventually, it'll fester and warp them, transform them from the inside, until they wear their ugliness on the outside, and their lives will take the crooked shape of the ideas they carried. Don't listen to the ideas of young, beautiful people. Listen to the ideas of people who have managed to remain beautiful even long past the time when the world should have crushed them under the burden of ordinary existence.

there is an epidemic of men in their 30s on dating apps who will invite women over to their house in lieu of a first date??? what’s going on here? the last time I remember this happening with any regularity was in college, the age at which you would expect this to happen?

i don’t think most people have seriously internalized how precious their time is. especially thinking time. most joke about time being money, then spend days obsessing over the dumbest shit. most of your thinking time should be spent filtering out bs and asking yourself, is this even worth thinking about? why do i care so much

A lot of guys approaching girls in real life are underestimating 1 thing: Most girls on the streets are just not in the market. Hell most girls at the clubs are not in the market. I don't care how many fat crusty incels here say, "But if you're Chad..." They don't know shit, their body count is 0, their resume is a grand total of 0. It's crazy that piece-of-shit losers with no stake in the game whatsoever even have a voice on this. Like letting a random illiterate guy design rockets at SpaceX. ANYWAY. My point is that most girls you see out and about are just not in the market for casual sex. Not even 5%, I'd say. Some of them already have partners and are exclusive. Some of them are just not in the right place in life to have any relationship whatsoever, even a hookup. Some of them are just celibate by nature and don't crave sex like you and I do (oh yes, there are many such girls nowadays). And yes, the remainder are open to casual sex... but that's a tiny proportion. Even if you do locate them in the wild (which is like finding a needle in a haystack), you still have to be "her type" to get anywhere with her. You know what solves this problem? Yup, dating apps. You guys who do poorly on apps won't like it, but it doesn't change the fact that dating apps solve 2 very important problems: 1. The girls are self-selected to be in the market. 2. The girls have indicated that you're "their type" by swiping right. You just can't replicate this with in-person approaches. And I haven't even gotten into how efficient and automated and at-scale dating apps are for filling up your pipeline with qualified leads. This is why cold approach cannot be a main top-of-the-funnel strategy. AT BEST, it can be supplementary... on top of dating apps... which is what I do. I go out 3-4 nights a week and meet girls that way. But I don't pretend that anything is going to reliably happen from these approaches. It's just keeping my social muscle active and getting my reps in. Because cold approach relies on happenstance and luck. It relies on girls giving you IOIs (like how I connected with that black chick on Instagram and she liked all my photos). Without IOIs, the whole set/approach is worthless anyway. And you'll realize how rare IOIs are out in the wild, even when you go out 3-4 nights a week like me. You know where you can get 5-10 new IOIs every day? That's right, dating apps. QED.

if software development ends up involving just checking the work of models, then i will quit the industry permanently i dont care that i have no backup plan. i dont care that im sacrificing a lot of potential wealth. the experience is so awful, it would still have negative value
Dillon Mulroy@dillon_mulroy

yall im ngl its way harder to get joy and satisfaction out of building with ai than it was before constantly straddling burn out, being far less immersed in hard problems, constant context switching i’m tired of the uncertainty of where this is going and how to do it well

It's crazy to me how many men piled on to this with strategies for how to get away with being lazy, easier. "Go to an office" or "pretending you're working in the garage". Totally missing the point.
Traders Confessions@TradersConf

My wife hates my lifestyle. Even though I’m averaging $300-500k a year from trading she hates that I trade for 2-3 hours a day then play playstation and chill for the rest of it. It doesn’t matter how much I make, she treats me like her unemployed bum husband who won’t get a job.

My favorite way to use AI for coding is... To write most of code myself, and then let AI teach me, and review me. Models are much better at finding issues than at writing greenfield code, so imo it's reasonable to embrace this. The amount of code was never the bottleneck. Remember - when you use AI to just get the end-result, you invest in your tokens provider. But when you use it to learn something new - you invest in yourself.

i am still somewhat skeptical about ai coding the models are really really good now, and every company has access but software seems more sloppy and broken than ever before as if coding was never really the bottleneck
