A journalist-friend checked ticket fare from Tirunelveli to Chennai today & it was up to Rs 7,500. A family of four needs to spend nearly Rs 30,000 just to return to Chennai. Most families would have already spent a significant amount travelling to their native places to celebrate Pongal.
