Toyota decided to sell big, 8 cylinder engine trucks after the CEO, Fujio Cho, went to a Dallas Cowboys game and saw how many full-sized + trucks were in the parking lot. He went straight back to Japan and told the board they were missing a big market.

@hmyk1 @genychristian @ankoromochuu Compare to China, where quality is low because cheap production is a priority. Japan said, "it will take time, and it will be expensive, but if we make the best product, people will buy it, and be brand loyal."
Which is why so many Americans buy ONLY Japanese cars to this day.

@hmyk1 @genychristian @ankoromochuu This is true. However, most great inventions are copied in one way or another, and normally something important is lost along the way, reducing quality. What Japan did differently, was use the Kaizen approach to improve, which took the quality from low, to best in class. Amazing.

@genychristian @ankoromochuu I'm sad you thought that! I bet if you polled us that at least 85% likes Japan, and a higher percentage respect y'all. A Japanese process called Kaizen, which was used by Toyota to improve quality-we copied because it works so well. One example of many to show USA+Japan= amazing
