My cousin spent ₦5 million on his wedding and forgot to buy wedding rings. On their wedding day, everything was beautiful. I spent ₦80,000 to sew a suit for my friend's wedding, and he replaced me with his other friends who had just returned from the UK. We had been planning the wedding together for months. I followed him around the market to buy things, helped him book the MC and the DJ, and assisted with several other preparations. Then, a day before the wedding, he called me and said I shouldn't be among the groomsmen anymore. Instead, he wanted me to help look after the drinks during the event. I had spent ₦80,000 on a suit simply because he was my good friend. And now he's dropping me, probably because the other guys are richer. I didn't argue with him. I ended the call and never attended the wedding.

Dear PZ Cussons, I don’t know if it’s just me, but this new Morning Fresh bottle design is really not it. Squeezing the liquid out feels like an extreme sport at this point. The bottle is quite difficult to press, and honestly, that kind of user experience is part of the reasons I sometimes prefer Mama Lemon instead. Two years ago, I saved a number as “DO NOT PICK.” No name. Just that. Till today, I don’t remember why. Last night, around 2:13am, that same number called me. I almost ignored it but curiosity won. I picked. No sound for a few seconds. Then a voice said, very calmly: “You finally picked.” My body went cold. I asked, “Who is this?” The person replied, “You told me not to call you again remember?” I checked my chats immediately. Nothing. No conversation. No history. Just the number saved by me. I asked again, “What are you talking about?” Then the line cut. I tried calling back. Switched off. This morning, I woke up and checked my phone again. The number is still there But the name has changed. It now reads: “My mistake.”

A student of mine who got a $500 VA job lost it today. 2 days after. 😭 I am so livid She posted the offer letter. She was supposed to start this coming Monday. Onboarding was supposed to be today according to her. The crazy thing is they did not even send her a formal letter about it. They waited for her to show up for onboarding and the client broke the news in the harshest way possible. So this is what happened. She received an offer, had not even signed it yet, and out of pure excitement posted it on LinkedIn. The exact same platform she got the job from. The client eventually saw it. The only thing she blurred out was the client's name but the job details, pay and every other information were right there visible to anyone scrolling. I am sure some of you saw that post on LinkedIn about two days ago before she deleted it. Remote workers please do not post in real time. Or do not post it at all. You can celebrate without exposing yourself. You can talk about it without jeopardising everything you worked for. My goodness, and we prepared for this interview so well. If it was Upwork I would understand the thinking that maybe the client would not see it. But LinkedIn to LinkedIn? With the same details intact? E jor naa. 😭 And this is someone who just finished training in February. Landed her first client after trials and rejections. I was genuinely so happy for her because nothing sweetens my heart more than watching my students win. My dear I am so sorry. We will get another one and it will be even better. But remote workers please learn this today, keep some things private until the ink is dry, the contract is signed and you have actually started work. Weeks later maybe. Protect your opportunities with the same energy you used to pursue them. Omo!

Someone requested a pay raise from N270k to N500k because his workload had extended beyond what it used to be when he was employed then. His offer was declined, and he, in turn, resigned shortly after then. Alas! the company employed someone else and guess how much was offered his replacement? N650k + other perks 😱

@iamzioraa First things first would be to snuff out Oxygen. Oxygen is what feeds fire. this kind of fire can be put out by getting a very thick blanket or pack like 4 to 5 towels. Fling them on the pot and gather the edges such that there's no air going in. This has to be done swiftly.

During my studies overseas, a professor used "Nigeria" as an example of a country often associated with fraud. In a class of 40, I was the only Nigerian. For over 15 minutes, I felt deeply embarrassed. Eventually, I spoke up and informed the professor that Nigeria is not among the top 3 countries for fraud and that I was uncomfortable with it being singled out as the primary example. The professor apologized and clarified that I was correct. I felt a bit of sense of relief from the embarrassment😆

How did we really get here as a country 😢
