You’ve got 17b fast train to Sheffield then Lincoln or Nottingham and 17a stopping train to Sheffield or Knottingly? One train will be locked so passengers know you have 2 x 2 car trains not one 4 car train.

Usual story, 4 mins to ko, crew on board in the warm, doors still closed. Passengers shivering on the draughty platform. @northernassist @TVLRUG

@northernassist @ian_rutson Erm that’s the best train they’ve got, loads more seats than the new ones (ok that’s coz there’s less tables) it might have been made in the 90’s but it can also go 90mph!

This is a new one. Our @EastMidRailway train from Barnetby to Lincoln has developed a fault. We have no lights or electrics and the headlights have failed. That means the train has to do 20mph all the way. I think I’ve just seen a sheep overtake us.

Worked in retail for 30 years. In order, these are the most annoying customers: 1, Refuses to use self service. 2, "You have to accept cash, it's in the magna carta" 3, "you keep moving everything" 4, Dumps products randomly about the shop. 5, Takes the second paper from the top.

DON'T BUY TRAIN TICKETS IN ADVANCE! On 1 April, govt is quietly changing the National Rail Conditions of Travel. Off-Peak & Anytime tickets become non-refundable after 23:59 the day BEFORE you travel. If you wake up & find your event cancelled, NO REFUNDS, even on £100+ tickets.

Here is the train which is on a Magical Mystery Tour being diverted between Stockport and Chesterfield and missing Sheffield out altogether just for good measure. Needless to say it has to be two Class 170’s coupled together doesn’t it?

29 miles travelled in just 47 minutes. Wow, an incredible 35 mph! Who knew inter-city trains could move that fast?!

@SteelCityDog_ @RailwayExplorer Yep, started weekends in Dec, then full launch, but as Sheffield north end had to close for a week, they saved the fanfare until after the engineering works were completed.

I’m a retired mechanic. My hands are permanently stained with oil, and my back hates me. My neighbor, Sarah, is a single mom working two jobs. Her car—a 2005 Honda—sounds like a blender full of marbles. She told me she was saving up for the repair, but I knew she was skipping meals to do it. Last Tuesday, while she was at work, I used my spare key (she gave it to me for emergencies) and rolled her car into my garage. I spent six hours replacing the alternator and the brake pads. I even vacuumed the Cheerios out of the back seat. When she came home, she panicked because the car was "missing." I walked out, wiping my hands on a rag. "Hey Sarah," I called out. "Some guy from the dealership was wandering around. Said your car was part of a 'Safety Recall' for old models. He took it, fixed it, and brought it back. Left the paperwork on your dash." She looked at the car, then at the "recall" notice I’d mocked up on my computer. She burst into tears and hugged me. "I didn't think anyone cared about that old car," she sobbed. I’m 70 years old. I don't need the money. I just need to know that a little girl is safe in a car that actually stops when it’s supposed to.

@Trump02045889 @CrossCountryUK But the ticket you brought online has not been used, so might be refundable from Trainline, if the ticket type is refundable, and they will normally charge you an admin fee (maybe £10). If it’s an advanced ticket, it is non refundable.

Hi @CrossCountryUK , I’m honestly at a loss and don’t know where else to turn. I was charged twice for the same journey (Coventry → Manchester Piccadilly), and after instant emails and even returning to the station in person, I still can’t get a refund or a straight answer.

@Trump02045889 @CrossCountryUK I’m trying to understand what has happened here. You brought a ticket online, that needed collecting from a ticket machine, but boarded a train without that ticket. So the ticket from the conductor is the ticket used for your journey- that can’t be refunded, it’s been used.
