Last year, I learned they'd happily kill my political leaders. This month, I learned they'd happily kill a man with my political and religious beliefs. Last night, I learned they'd happily cheer on the death of my religious leaders. Today, I learned they'd happily kill me.

A tragic act of violence occurred today at a chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan. During Sunday worship services a gunman opened fire, and early reports indicate that multiple individuals were injured. We ask for cooperation with local authorities as details become available. The Church is in communication with local law enforcement as the investigation continues and as we receive updates on the condition of those affected. We offer thanks to the emergency responders who are assisting victims and families. We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of prayers and concern from so many people around the world. In moments of sorrow and uncertainty, we find strength and comfort through our faith in Jesus Christ. Places of worship are meant to be sanctuaries of peacemaking, prayer and connection. Following the shooting of  an American political commentator, the following statement has been issued attributable to Church spokesman Doug Andersen: “It is with great sadness that we learn of the shooting that took place at Utah Valley University resulting in the death of Charlie Kirk. Our prayers go out to his family at this time. We condemn violence and lawless behavior. We also pray that we may treat one another with greater kindness, compassion and goodness. @libsoftiktok Praying is the problem here, not the solution. People use prayer instead of action. If prayer worked a house of prayer wouldn’t have just experienced this tragedy.

Mayor Frey just told people they shouldn't be praying. This is after Catholic children were killed while attending mass. He is a sick individual
