The students in @ucf is booing the future. Youth afraid of what human progress beyond human powers will bring. A valid sceptisism. But be aware when the youth is behaving like old time boomers there is something fundamentally wrong. The lack of understanding may start a ”ideocracy” movement that will bring chaos and political instability far worse than the administration @POTUS is creating. The future will involve AI no matter what. Either you embrace technology or convert to the Amish society. There is not a clear middle path. But there is one thing you can fight for. Regulations, rules. A path to global consensus about what or what not to do. Just like we’ve done in the field of genetics. (Which by the way - combined with AI will solve most of all human illnesses within this century) So while booing in this case is a way of expressing and questioning things you are afraid of. The future is AI. So embrace or fall behind in another metric like you have done in many other fields. This is like saying no to all common vaccines like rotavirus vaccine that protects against rotavirus causing severe diarrhea and vomiting, the 6-in-1 DTaP-IPV-Hib-HepB vaccine that protects against diphtheria, tetanus (lockjaw), pertussis (whooping cough), polio, Hib (meningitis and other serious infections), and hepatitis B, the pneumococcal (PCV) vaccine that protects against pneumococcal disease including pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections, the MMR vaccine that protects against measles, mumps, and rubella (German measles), and the HPV vaccine that protects against human papillomavirus which can cause cervical cancer and genital warts - and think your kid will survive as good as 200 years ago. #fuckcancer ALL cancer.
