@cityaestheticss Candidly, San Francisco already has a high population density. If I were master planner of all land use, I’d probably try to densify places like Daly City and extend the City of San Francisco southward.

This is what San Fransisco should look like: Tall buildings everywhere. All the excuses about not enough land, seismic activity, comparing San Fran to random suburban cities in the US… These are all just excuses, build skyscrapers.

@deedydas I'm pretty sure that the solution set for the IIT-JEE would be out there, and it's likely the LLMs are already trained on it. Suppose we gave it an Olympiad paper it hasn't seen before (therefore more novel solutions), how would the LLMs do? I'd be curious.

@Austen If he's going to be in-charge of design/culture, then he has to live in a place with design/culture. But 3-4 hours in the car per day is insane.

Still the most mind blowing Jony Ive fact I’ve ever heard is that he preferred to live in San Francisco so he would commute EVERY DAY to Cupertino. He said it could easily be four hours per day in the car on days with traffic.

I’m in total disbelief. I left this city a few years ago after spending my entire adult life here. I’d given up on the idea that what I’m seeing right now would be possible in my lifetime. I’m shocked to type this, but has San Francisco become the cleanest big city in America?

3 years ago I had a BMI of 35.5 (220 lbs on my 5’6” frame) and 44% body fat. Our startup was 6 months in, and I didn’t know how I was going to find the energy for… anything. I read “The Obesity Code” and decided I would learn to fast but change nothing else about my diet

@saket71 I get it, but let me ask you this - have you assessed if this person is talented and if they respect you for you, and not just because of your age? I like respect for elders, but I hate weaponizing it, as is generally the case in our culture. Destructive and holds us back.

Call me old fashioned but had connected with a young fresh 2025 pass out from my college when he sent message on LinkedIn. His first message started with - Hi Saket, we are from same college…. And he lost me there itself. Son, you are 2025 pass out and address 1994 pass out with first name. I still address 1993 and earlier pass out as ‘Sir’. This Americanised culture..

@packyM Other eastern/asian cultures do it good too. Also - I'll go as far as saying that India does vegetarian food well because they know how to use spices well, which has nothing to do with cooking vegetarian or non-vegetarian food.

Indians are the only people who have figured out how to make vegetarian food good.

There are a lot of people asking me why I am complaining about EB1-A instead of paying $1m for EB 5. The issue is it would still take more than a year or two. If someone can fact check this and give more an accurate timeline, that would be great.

@tunguz 💯. I think this learn-C/pp-first is an unnecessarily pure and less constructive pursuit. And I like C and Python for different reasons. Cpp is a bad first language and I find the delta between C and Cpp to be higher than advertised (see Cpp code in a production environment)

I am the exact opposite. Wish I had started with Python. My life would have been so much easier.

@bryan_johnson Adjacent - the one thing that hardly anyone talks about but I'm sure will improve life dramatically, is clean water. As an example, every house/apt you go to has hard water stains. Clean water will clean up the physical environment, and the drinking water too.

I've loved being in India. My first time. I am shocked by how normalized Indians are to poor air quality. Breathing the air is like smoking multiple cigarettes a day. Yet no one wears a mask or has air filters in their indoor environments. India has an amazing opportunity; cleaning up its air would unleash: + an increased life expectancy of 3.57 years (5). For context on how large of an opportunity that is, curing all cancer would only add 3. + $95 billion to its economic growth (3% of GDP) that is currently lost in productivity due to poor air quality + India is forecasted to be the world's 3rd largest economy by 2030, has an ideal demographic age pyramid, and is hungry for success. 🧵
