I personally know two young men who permanently altered their personalities and brain structure on their very first encounter with marijuana. It derailed both of their lives. Both dropped out of college, one is semi-homeless, and the other still lives with his mom now. The fact that cannabis can trigger psychosis and schizophrenia in young adult men is criminally under discussed.

@jonathanplumb @Manhattva My wife’s ITP has been in remission for over 8 years thanks to her VA doctor that admitted they could keep taking chemo and steroid pills that weren’t helping, or try another avenue. I’m grateful for that doctor.

I’m a long-term marijuana user for chronic pain and nerve damage, and I can’t disagree with this more. The VA has been studying my brain for almost 2 decades, taking regular scans to monitor the progress of my brain injury. And they have not noticed any measurable changes in my brain in this entire time. And I probably smoke far more than your typical stoner. I do have motivation issues, but they’re entirely pain related. As soon as I take a pain pill, motivation skyrockets. The marijuana literally has no negative effect on my life. That said, I hate it and wish I could get off it. But I can’t. But I also get a little bothered when I see people talking about how bad it is who typically have no or little personal experience (not saying that’s you — but generally speaking).
