If you are relocating to Canada 🇨🇦 from Nigeria 🇳🇬 and don’t know which city to pick, let me save you the research. 🇨🇦 Toronto = 🇳🇬 Lagos. Same hustle. Same traffic on Don Valley Parkway. You didn’t relocate, you just changed currency. 🇨🇦 Ottawa = 🇳🇬 Abuja. Government jobs. Quiet life. People leave work at 5pm. Still can’t believe that’s legal. 🇨🇦 Vancouver = 🇳🇬 Port Harcourt. Beautiful. By the water. Everything is expensive and nobody is sorry about it. 🇨🇦 Calgary = 🇳🇬 Warri. Oil and gas. Tough people. No time for packaging. What you see is what you get. 🇨🇦 Brampton = 🇳🇬 Festac/Surulere. Every Nigerian knows someone there. The jollof, the churches, the hair salons. You will think you never left. 🇨🇦 Winnipeg = 🇳🇬 Kaduna. Overlooked. Affordable. Getting better quietly. Nobody talks about it enough. 🇨🇦 Montreal = 🇳🇬 Ibadan. Old soul. Rich culture. Speaks a different language and is very proud of that. You will adapt or struggle. 🇨🇦 Edmonton = 🇳🇬 Enugu. Solid. Underestimated. People work hard and say nothing about it. Which one did I get right and which one did I miss? 👇

New ED at First Bank. Checked his profile and a couple of things jumped at me: 1. Ex KPMG -many top finance and management professionals were in Big 4 at a ppint in the early stage of his career. 2. He worked in management positions Forte Oil, Geregu Power and now FBN. All Otedola interests at some point. Many people don't know this in corporate world, but it is very common. Once a very influential corporate godfather identifies you as smart and competent, they move you around anywhere they go. Otedola likely to have discovered him when he owned Forte Oil. When he divested from Forte Oil and invested in Geregu, he moved him to Geregu. Now, Otedola is the majority shareholder in First Holdings, he has brought him there again. Superbanker Umaru Mutallab was SLS's godfather in banking. He discoevred his smartness. Although SLS had not joined UBA when Mutallab was the CEO of UBA, he was still influential enough in UBA to spot him when SLS was in UBA in the late 1990s. When Mutallab became Chairman of First Bank then, he poached SLS from UBA to join FBN in 2005 as an ED. By 2009, he was promoted to MD. When Soludo's term expired as CBN governor later in 2009, and Yar'adua wanted a replacement, he sought advice from superbanker Mutallab for a banking guru he knew. He referred SLS again. That was how SLS become CBN governor. One of my mentors, Niyi Yusuf, who became CEO of Accenture Nigeria in 2010, mentioned the role his benefactor and highly influential former CEO and later Chairman of Accenture Nigeria, Dotun Sulaiman, played in his rise in Accenture. I have other examples. If you are smart and competent in your job, and one highly influential power broker in corporate Nigeria spots you, they move you around, mention your name in rooms, refer you, and, where they have near-absolute power (eg board seat because of their shareholding), they solely put you in top positions.

Tekedia Institute is delighted to congratulate Dr. Julius Omodayo-Owotuga on his appointment as Executive Director of First Bank Nigeria, effective May 13, 2026. Good People, one of Nigeria’s finest professionals has ascended to yet another important leadership position, and from all of us at Tekedia, we celebrate JB Omodayo-Owotuga, FCA, CFA, DBA on this remarkable milestone. Beyond professional excellence, JB and the Omodayo-Owotuga family have demonstrated a deep commitment to investing in people. Through a multi-year endowment established in memory of Late Most Supreme Apostle Matthew Omodayo Owotuga, hundreds of young people have attended Tekedia Mini-MBA through scholarships provided at no cost to the beneficiaries. Even in our upcoming edition beginning in June, another cohort of scholars from the Owotuga Foundation will join the program, continuing a legacy of empowering and developing future leaders. Good People, leadership is not only measured by positions attained but also by lives impacted. Through the Owotuga Family initiative, many young people have gained access to knowledge and opportunities which have shaped their careers. We know the number of recommendation letters we complete monthly as scholars and learners ascend to higher levels. For First Bank, I expect the elephant to discover new dance moves. We wish JB and the entire First Bank Team continued success and many more wins ahead. And on a lighter note, perhaps now is the right time to open a First Bank branch in Ovim, Abia State. Ovim sons and daughters will ensure the bank has adequate deposits to make this branch a profit-center.

@officialEFCC No one, I mean no one who’s not been living under a rock in Nigeria in the last 5 years would doubt EFCC’s tendency to have done all they’re been accused of. They have the penchant for behaving like a gang of outlaws. They need a reform.

EFCC Sets the Record Straight on UUTH Incident Following the impassioned reaction of Nigerians to a recent incident at the Uyo University Teaching Hospital, UUTH, involving operatives of the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Commission and some staff of the hospital, the Commission is constrained to issue further clarification concerning the episode. The presence of the Commission’s Operatives in the facility on Tuesday, May 12th, 2026 was purely administrative, to facilitate the authentication of a document, rather than a tactical operation to effect arrest. Contrary to the information making the rounds, no arrests were made and the staff of the hospital that followed our operatives to the Zonal Command were not detained. The Commission is outraged by the allegations of brutalisation of staff of the hospital. Even though we have not seen any physical evidence of such brutality in terms of bodily harm or injury to anyone, including to the staff members who addressed the media on this issue, the Commission as a responsible organisation, has ordered an investigation into the incident. While awaiting the outcome of this inquiry, any staff of the Commission found to have deviated from the Standard Operating Procedure of the Agency, will not be spared. The Commission acknowledges stakeholders who have shown concern in the amicable resolution of the issue and ,once again, reassures the public, including medical staff of the UUTH, that the May 12th incident was an aberration and should not be allowed to be exploited by some fifth columnists to undermine the fight against corruption in Nigeria. The EFCC recognizes the rights of every Nigerian and will continue to pursue its mandate without distraction or encroachment on the inalienable right of anyone.

@officialEFCC This crap can only be written by someone who has something to hide. What transpired before the CMD asked them to lock the gate …if indeed that’s the case. EFCC is known to be a lawless organisation. The rogues that you call agents harrass people at the slightest provocation. 🙄

Why EFCC Operatives Visited UUTH The Tuesday, May 12, 2026, visit of operatives of the Uyo Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State was informed by the need to authenticate a medical report presented by a suspect under remand by Justice M.A Onyetunu of the Federal High Court, Uyo, for allegedly defrauding multiple micro finance banks, including University of Uyo Micro Finance Bank. The suspect had presented a medical report which required authentication by the UUTH management. The Commission wrote two different letters, dated March 11, 2026 and April 20, 2026, to the hospital management to this effect without receiving any response. The Investigating Officer handling the matter took the further step of visiting the hospital to enquire about the status of the request. Still, no response. As a last resort, operatives of the Commission visited the Chief Medical Director of the hospital on Tuesday to make further enquiries, only to be locked in with a false alarm and subjected to unprovoked attack by misguided staff of the facility who pelted them with stones and other dangerous objects. While within the hospital, the CMD reportedly directed that gates of the facility be shut, making it impossible for any lawful enquiry to be made. Police authorities in Akwa Ibom State advised the CMD to open the hospital gates to enable the operatives exit the premises peacefully but the entreaties were turned down. In spite of the hostility and provocation, there was no breakdown of law and order as the operatives exercised restraint and professionally made their ways out of the hospital premises without disrupting its activities. Enquiries bordering on operational engagements of the Commission are lawful. It is therefore necessary to remind the public and corporate bodies that they are obligated to cooperate with the agency in such circumstances. Contrary action could be deemed as obstruction, which is criminal with attendant legal consequences.

If you watch this video you will notice this lady keeps saying “don’t put the man’s name on your child’s birth certificate or you will suffer”, but she never tells you how/why the woman will suffer. I will tell you what she’s doing. In the uk, for those who don’t know: If you are named as a man as the father on the birth certificate of a child, you have a right to do a DNA paternity test on your own on that child without seeking the permission of the mother or anybody. Same way a child’s mother on the birth certificate can do a DNA maternity test on the child on her own if she wishes to, without anybody’s permission. (Except if the child is older than 16 then the child must consent). Now IF your name is not on the birth certificate as the father, and you suspect the baby is not yours, you must get the mother’s authorisation to do a DNA test- which she will likely refuse once there are paternity disputes, and there are fears you won’t continue to send money to her once the DNA test shows you are not the father. So this crook here is advising young ladies to not put any man’s name on the birth certificate so that they can hang the baby on any man they wish, and the man will be unable to demand a DNA test yet he can be compelled by a court to care for that child for 16years, until the child is old enough to get a job. It is an evil wicked demonic plan hatched by crooked paternity fraud criminals who want to hang one man’s baby on another man’s head. Once you see people who say or share things like this, pls run for your life. Once you see people wear T-shirts with retarded inscriptions, they usually say asinine crap. Again, if you ignore the signs, you will surely see wonders.

I hope these messages sink in within the administration: A. Iran does not believe it lost this confrontation. On the contrary, from Tehran’s perspective, it proved resilience and strategic staying power. B. Iran has no intention of capitulating or accepting Washington’s demands, not now, and not in the foreseeable future. C. No matter how much Trump threatens “the end of civilization,” Iran is unlikely to back down. Even if military confrontation resumes, Tehran is not expected to reverse course under pressure alone. D. The only realistic paths to an agreement are either: compromising on key Iranian demands, or pursuing regime change in Iran. If the administration is unwilling to commit the enormous military, political, and economic resources required for regime change, then it likely lacks the leverage to force Tehran to accept maximalist terms. E. Neither sanctions, blockades, nor other “silver bullet” pressure tactics are likely to compel Iran to fundamentally alter its negotiating position. Claims otherwise are increasingly detached from reality. F. Iran and its regional proxies retain significant capacity to inflict economic and strategic pain on Gulf states, particularly in the energy and maritime domains. G. Any agreement with Iran is unlikely to include meaningful restrictions on its missile program or regional proxy network, and will almost certainly acknowledge, at least implicitly: Iran’s right to enrich uranium, and its Hormuz straits control. H. Most Gulf states are deeply concerned about escalation and understand that toppling the Iranian regime would be extraordinarily difficult and destabilizing. I. The United States did not achieve a decisive strategic victory. Despite operational successes by both the U.S. and Israel, the broader strategic balance in the region has not fundamentally changed. J. Iran is not Venezuela. It is a far larger, more institutionalized, ideologically committed, and strategically resilient state with deep regional networks and a much higher tolerance for prolonged confrontation. The bottom line us simple: There is an illusion in Washington that Iran emerged weakened, isolated, and ultimately cornered by military pressure, sanctions, and the threat of escalation. From Tehran’s perspective, the recent confrontation did not end in defeat. Quite the opposite. The Islamic Republic believes it demonstrated resilience, survivability, and an ability to absorb enormous pressure without surrendering politically. In the eyes of Iran’s leadership, simply enduring against the combined pressure of the United States and Israel reinforces the regime’s central narrative: that resistance works. The administration must recognize an uncomfortable reality: coercion has limits. If the United States truly seeks to compel Iran to abandon its core strategic doctrine, there are only two possible paths. The first is compromise, meaning accepting that any sustainable agreement will have to accommodate at least some Iranian red lines. The second is regime chang. No more no less.No middle ground. #Iran #IranWar

U.S. President Donald J. Trump has made his first comments since the news broke that Iran sent their response to the U.S. proposal through Pakistani mediators. While nothing was said about the proposal by President Trump, we can garner that the proposal sent by Iran was likely unacceptable to the administration, as the president was highly critical of the “games” that Iran has played with past administrations to gain concessions.

🇺🇸 🇮🇷 The real cost of this war isn't measured in dollars or missiles. It's measured in long-term American interests sacrificed for short-term gains... Look at what the U.S. has actually traded over 76 days of war. Alliances built over decades got tested and many failed publicly. NATO refused to join the campaign. The UK was slow to provide bases. France led European efforts to find off-ramps Trump didn't want. Germany's chancellor publicly called the U.S. strategy a humiliation. The Gulf states pulled airspace access to force operational pauses. The trust required for future coalitions takes generations to rebuild and was burned in weeks. Strategic Petroleum Reserve drew down to manage price shocks. Munitions stockpiles depleted to dangerous lows. 1,100 JASSM-ER missiles fired with only 1,500 left globally. The strategic deterrent designed for Pacific contingencies got spent on Iran. Replacement timelines stretch six years. National debt added through emergency defense spending will be serviced by taxpayers for generations. Iran ended up with long-term strategic gains the war was supposed to prevent. Hormuz leverage formally codified into Iranian law. Toll collection operationalized. Regime more entrenched than before the bombing. IRGC stronger relative to civilian government. Nuclear program preserved per the intelligence community's own assessment. The "moderates" the war was supposed to empower never materialized. The hardliners the war was supposed to weaken consolidated power. America's reputation as the indispensable security guarantor took the worst hit of all. The Gulf states watched the U.S. struggle to enforce its own blockade without their cooperation. Allies witnessed America publicly demanding their assistance after weeks of insulting them. Adversaries observed exactly how stretched the U.S. military becomes when pulled across multiple theaters. The implicit deterrence that kept Taiwan, Ukraine, and the Korean peninsula stable just got measured and found wanting. What did America gain in exchange? Short-term degradation of Iranian conventional military capability. Disruption to Iran's economy. Some demonstration of resolve. That's it. That's the entire ROI for everything America just spent...
