@wesstreeting You’re so naive. You can’t fix any problems without a booming economy. And ai can’t be powered by wind farms. Amateur’s the lot of you. Bring people in who understand about growth and business.

Labour won’t win Britain’s future by fighting old wars or recycling old orthodoxies. Nor will it do so through technocratic detachment from the lives people actually live. The answers must be new, but they must also be Labour. Response to Tony Blair 👇🏻 theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

@afneil You need to get out of London, Andrew. You’ve clearly got no idea how much people here are struggling. And, yes, a lot of it can be traced back to Margaret Thatcher.

Except that it purports to claim that the area (Makerfield) has been a victim of 40 years of Thatcherism (that’s what Burnham seems to be running against, which means he’s also running against the Blair-Brown government, of which he was a part). Yet the backdrop to his wandering shows rows of neat, well-kept, substantial semi-detached homes, with plenty new cars in the driveways and a vibrant high street, despite all the road works improving it. Oh yes and a state school so good he sent his kids to it. Put simply — the pictures clash with his words of victimhood and deprivation.

One of the most effective bits of political communication on the left I’ve seen in a long time. A message and a powerful messenger.

The prime minister is right. We need to get back to the heart of Europe. That will never happen whilst the red lines remain on the single market, the customs union and freedom of movement. They need to go now and be seen to go now otherwise it’s a waste of time. labourmovementforeurope.uk/redlines?splas…

@johnmcdonnellMP This is the parties entire failing and reason you have lost so many counsellors - you’re always five or six steps behind everyone else in understanding how the majority of the public feel. To have to sit around a table and discuss this now is totally ridiculous. Times up.

Nobody should be launching a coup, we need to give party chance to have a thorough discussion about what has happened, why & what’s needed now but everything has to be on agenda. Keir will need to put party & country first in judging whether he is risking opening door to Farage.

I’m not sure why we still have a monarch. It seems like a medieval anachronism to me; a demonstration of inherited status and the the pinnacle of an entrenched aristocracy. And I’m really not sure why our monarch has gone to the US to stand next to another man with too much power, land and money.

This is a perfect example of trying to be “creative” but using washed out themes…. You execute very well on the concept, but you become the least remembered part of the production. The choreography took away from the song and the artist because it was creative… but the setting and “bad boy” theme completely depleted the star power of the watch.

@LiamHalligan I agree, by the way. But it’s a disaster which is decades in the making, mostly overseen by neoliberals on the right, who didn’t grasp they were creating a bloated, useless state.

Nick Robinson is exactly right: ‘…there is genuine concern about editorial standards+mistakes. There is also a political campaign by people who want to destroy the organisation that you are currently listening to. Both things are happening at the same time.’
