🚨 Texas Sets the National Standard: Strongest Child Protection Bill in America Ready to Pass The final version of CSSB 12 closes every loophole and delivers a model for the nation on protecting kids & restoring parental rights. After thoroughly reviewing the final version of CSSB 12, I can state unequivocally: Texas is about to pass the strongest legislation in the nation to protect children from sexualization in public schools and to defend parental rights in education. The Stop Sexualizing Texas Kids Subcommittee will be making a formal recommendation of STRONG SUPPORT for CSSB 12. This model legislation: ✅ Prohibits instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity in PK–12 public schools—across all settings, including classrooms, assemblies, and student organizations. ✅ Prohibits student clubs centered around gender identity or sexual orientation, closing a major loophole for inappropriate content. ✅ Bans school-facilitated social transitioning, ensuring schools stay focused on education—not identity ideologies. ✅Reinstates Parental Opt-In for Human Sexuality Instruction ✅ Retains strict limits on school counselor roles to prevent promotion of controversial topics under the guise of mental health or diversity programming. ✅ Creates robust grievance procedures, including the right to appeal to the Commissioner of Education and to the courts—ensuring transparency, accountability, and parental empowerment. CSSB 12 establishes a clear, enforceable framework that puts parents back in charge, shields children from premature exposure to adult content, and restores appropriate educational boundaries in Texas public schools. We commend the conference committee for their diligence and resolve in restoring the bill’s core protections and closing dangerous loopholes. This is a conservative victory of epic proportions for Texas families. Special thanks to Chairman @CreightonForTX , Chairman @leachfortexas, and the Committee Conferees for their leadership and commitment to protecting children. We also recognize Rep. @Toth_4_Texas , Rep. @brentmoney, and Rep. @NateSchatzline for their critical strengthening amendments that ensured this bill delivers on its promise. Finally, heartfelt appreciation goes to my colleagues on the Stop Sexualizing Texas Kids Subcommittee, who invested countless hours advising, reviewing, and guiding this legislation to its final form. This is a defining moment—and we are proud to stand behind it. Texas leads the way. The simple truth is that the Texas Senate killed several important conservative bills. But certain people, publications, and groups have to down play it, or remain silent altogether. Those are the rules. #txlege

The Texas House is prioritizing Hollywood (Sb 22) over making sure Texas kids have safe public school libraries (SB 13). The READER Act isn't working as intended @JaredLPatterson. Books like Red, White, and Royal Blue are still in schools across Texas. #txlege @toddahunter @cdfusa @Moms4Liberty

I couldn’t agree more. WHY on Earth would our #TxLege put SB22 millions4moviehouses ahead of safeguarding TX children with Senator @AngelaPaxtonTX’s #SB13 that installs common sense guard rails to protect minors from indecent and profane materials in our schools. Chairman @toddahunter, you were there with us in Pub Ed until 3:30AM and witnessed a Bi-Partisan effort to get this bill across the finish line. PLEASE, Sir, #ProtectChildrenFIRST & help us rid TX schools of the horribly #FilthyBooks. Put SB13 on the MAJOR State Calendar today. Chairman Hunter — these books ARE in schools all over our State!

SB 13 is being slow walked in the Texas House. If it doesn't get placed on the State Calendar by Saturday, it's likely in the "we ran out of time" zone. SB 13 fixes the failed READER Act by @JaredLPatterson—an important first step, but one that simply isn’t working. Two years later, sexually explicit, vulgar, and completely inappropriate materials remain in Texas public school libraries. SB 13 removes the filth the READER Act failed to. Let’s start naming names—and books. 📚 Working It by Matilda Bickers is still on shelves—offering tips on how to become a prostitute. Yes, this book is available to minors in Texas public schools. I found it in @AustinISD two years ago--it's still there @toddahunter It’s time to act. #txlege #PassSB13 #ProtectTexasKids

#txlege 🚨 SB 13 BANS SEXUALLY EXPLICIT BOOKS IN TEXAS SCHOOL LIBRARIES — BUT IT IS IN DANGER OF DYING IN THE TEXAS HOUSE Time is running out! Texas kids will pay the price if the House fails to act. SB 13 by @AngelaPaxtonTX is a top @TexasGOP priority that would finally remove sexually explicit, indecent, and profane content from public school libraries across Texas. The Senate passed it. But now, it’s stalled in the Texas House—and time is running out fast. Let’s be clear: If SB 13 dies, it won’t be legislators who suffer. It’ll be our children—left exposed and unprotected for two more years! 📣 TAKE ACTION NOW – TEXAS KIDS ARE COUNTING ON US 📍 STEP 1: Contact House Calendars Chair Todd Hunter 📞 (512) 463-0672 📧 todd.hunter@house.texas.gov 🗣️ Tell him: “Place SB 13 on the calendar without delay. Texas kids can’t wait.” 📍 STEP 2: Call Every Republican Member of the House Calendars Committee: Rep. Stan Gerdes — 📞 (512) 463-0458 Rep. Cody Harris — 📞 (512) 463-0730 Rep. Jeff Leach — 📞 (512) 463-0544 Rep. Janie Lopez — 📞 (512) 463-0460 Rep. Carl Tepper — 📞 (512) 463-0676 🗣️ Message for all members: “Get SB 13 onto the state calendar today. HB 900 is not working as intended and explicit content is still in schools. Texas children can’t wait two more years.” 📚 WHY SB 13 MATTERS: In 2023, Texas passed the READER Act (HB 900)—an important first step that acknowledged the need for content standards in school libraries. Many of us fought hard for it. But two years later, it’s clear: HB 900 is not working as intended. Explicit content is still in Texas public schools! SB 13 doesn’t replace HB 900—it completes the job: ✅ Clear, enforceable standards for what belongs in school libraries ✅ Transparent oversight with parent-majority library councils ✅ Accountability for districts that ignore concerns ✅ Timely, documented responses to challenges This is what Texas parents asked for. This is the protection Texas kids deserve. ⚠️ THE CLOCK IS TICKING We cannot let SB 13 die. Every minute of delay puts children at risk. The House must act now—or be held accountable for inaction. 📞 Make the calls. 📢 Demand action. Pass SB 13. Protect our kids. Absolutely! This is important for a few reasons: 1. Sexual grooming breaks down natural boundaries and inhibitions. 2. Texas Penal Code Chapter 43 on obscenity and indecency relies on community standards. 3. Those standards are in the gutter when sexually explicit books line the children’s section of public libraries—and, I might add, when sex toys are on the shelves of “family-friendly” retailers. HB 3225 is a huge step in the right direction. We’re making headway that will make a difference now and lays groundwork for the future—there’s much more good work ahead of us! Rep. Daniel Alders has been a superstar partner in this fight—both on this bill and in our community. #txlege #ProtectKids @TexasGOP @DanielAldersTX @SenBryanHughes @DanielJFriend

One of the most important statements made during the HB 3225 debate. Democrats fought hard to make sure children had access to as much sexual content as possible. Their efforts failed.

Let’s be clear: as chair of the @TexasGOP's legislative priority: Stop Sexualizating Texas Kids, I’m keeping score. Gene Wu proudly claims they’ve stopped all the "insane" bills in the Texas House --you know, common-sense legislation to protect children, like removing indecent content from libraries, banning sex toys from family retailers, and ending LGBTQIA indoctrination in schools. Colluding with Democrats to kill our priority bills won't be tolerated. #txlege
Kristie Rutledge@KRutledgeTX

Gene Wu says Democrats have respect in @Burrows4tx House and House Dems have used their power and leverage to tamp down on insane legislation to protect children that @GregAbbott_TX and @DanPatrick want. Gene Wu: “I know that a lot of those pieces of (insane) legislation are in the House. They are stuck in the House because the Senate is happy to rubber stamp anything that Governor Abbott and Dan Patrick puts on their desk.” WFAA: youtu.be/gnS0OZveqak?si…

What the Texas PTA and Texas State Teacher's Association are asking for is a carve out to give children hard core porn. They know that none of the filthy books meet the strict definition of porn currently in the law. Think about that for a second, and ask yourselves what in the heck has happened to the teaching profession? I ask that not only as a mom, but as a former educator. #txlege

NEVER A REASON!
Christin Bentley SD-1 SREC@Bentley4Texas

There is NEVER a reason to give a child porn and there is NEVER a reason to have a child perform sexually for and adult. Yet, Texas law says otherwise... SB 412 by @mayes_middleton changes that, repealing absurd affirmative defenses aka legal justifications in Texas Penal code 43.24 (harmful material), 43.25 (sexual performance by a child), and 43.26 (posession of child porn). This RAD bill is STRONGLY supported by the Texas GOP, and it's being heard by the full Texas Senate TODAY! #txlege @TexasGOP #RAD #ProtectKids

This session, the Texas GOP legislative priority: Stop Sexualizing Texas Kids has several objectives, including dismantling Texas' Kinsey based laws that were put into the American Law Institute's model penal code, and adopted in Texas 52 years ago this May. Alfred Kinsey was a pedophile who sexually tortured and abused children at Indiana University in the name of "science." Scientific reasons is one of the affirmative defenses or "legal justifications" to have a child perform sexually for an adult, and it will be repealed by SB 412. This video is short, but packed with information that will give you context as to why we are working so hard to remove affirmative defenses in 43.24 and 43.25 (and 43.26). Our Texas Senate is taking a historic step TODAY, in passing SB 412. We are so excited to see it done. #txlege youtu.be/GWl8Q3gHR1I?si…

Another day, another teacher arrested for sexual misconduct. It's epidemic. What do we expect when Texas Kids are sexualized in their schools and communities? Overwhelmingly, Texas public school students are still provided with pornographic content in their schools by teachers, librarians, and administrators. When indecency is alive and well in the school's library, we can expect other boundaries to be crossed. We have a law prohibiting these materials in our schools, but school district administrators are ignoring them, just as they ignore education code. This session, we need to add strict penalties for schools who break the law and continue to sexualize kids by providing indecent, sexually explicit content. We also need to ensure that schools are reporting allegations of sexual misconduct and that all allegations are investigated by an INDEPENDENT third party. We must have enforcement in Texas Education Code. These should be easy fixes for a Republican Majority Legislature! #txlege

It is not illegal in Texas for adults to distribute sex toys to kids. It should be. Texas passed the most comprehensive law on sexual grooming in the 88th session, but the grooming must have resulted in illegal sexual conduct.

Would it surprise you to know that it's not illegal in Texas for your 13 year old daughter's soccer coach to give her a sex toy? It should be. We need to do a better job protecting Texas children. #txlege
