Sixteen months into his second presidency, Donald Trump may be as unpopular as he's ever been among the American electorate — but his grip on his core base of MAGA voters remains unshaken reut.rs/43kUUo5

U. of Florida owes its interim president a $2 million severance paycheck after snubbing him for the permanent job. That means he’ll be earning at least $4 million for a less-than-a-year tenure. miamiherald.com/news/local/edu…

Grave. La dictadura cubana acaba de convocar en televisión nacional a una manifestación para rodear la Embajada de los Estados Unidos en La Habana el día viernes. Están jugando con fuego. Quieren terminar como Maduro.

Making yourself feel powerful by sending special forces to arrest a 94 year old former leader of an island nation impoverished by U.S. sanctions doesn't exactly suggest a strong, self-confident and ascendant superpower.

Cuba is not a threat to the U.S. When we invade, we will then become responsible for a country that is a basket case. It's economy and infrastructure is in shambles. It's nation-building without the necessity. So why the hell are we doing this again? Also, see below: cato.org/blog/cubas-sel…

There’s a reason Trump today both confirmed the presence of CIA in Cuba and downplayed U.S. escalation. Langley isn’t pursuing another Bay of Pigs; it wants privatization à la Eastern Europe and Raulito is seen a linchpin. Other interests in the admin (DoJ and State) are playing their own games. My stab at understanding what’s happening here: open.substack.com/pub/macspaunda…

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D.
People are concerned about paying their mortgage or rent, affording groceries and paying for gas, not about putting together a $1.8 billion fund for the President and his allies to pay whomever they wish with no legal precedent or accountability. This is adding to our national debt. If there needs to be a settlement, the administration should bring it to Congress to decide.

According to CBS News, citing U.S. officials with knowledge of the matter, the Pentagon has begun actively developing military options against Cuba for President Trump, while the U.S. intelligence community explores how the country might respond to military action by the United States.

As US military options were drawn up for President Trump, US intel also began an assessment of how Cuba would respond to a US attack. The US did conclude that Cuba obtained attack drones. Cuba says it does not pose a threat to the US. Story here: cbsnews.com/news/u-s-intel…

[NEWS] Toyota, Nissan dealers are bracing for motor oil supply crunch: 44% of Group III base oil comes from three Persian Gulf producers - all cut off by the Strait of Hormuz closure. Qatar's Pearl GTL, the world's largest gas-to-liquids plant, is offline indefinitely. Wholesale motor oil has already absorbed three rounds of price increases in two and a half months, with some bulk prices up $5 or more per gallon versus 70 to 80 cents in a typical year. Toyota and Nissan have already issued dealer bulletins capping allocations and authorizing viscosity substitutions, and the U.S. could run out of Middle East Group III base oil by June. What this means for dealers: The priority right now is proactive communication with customers and close coordination with suppliers before the situation tightens further. According to a release from U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), USS Nimitz (CVN 68), the embarked Carrier Air Wing 17 (CVW-17), USS Gridley (DDG 101), and USNS Patuxent (T-AO 201) have now arrived in the SOUTHCOM area of responsibility (AOR). Context: Amidst rising U.S.-Cuba tensions it’s important to note that the deployment of the Nimitz aircraft carrier was previously announced in late March, as she and her accompanying vessels are set to take part in the latest iteration of the Southern Seas 2026 passing exercises with a number of South American and Caribbean nations, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Uruguay. Per a SOUTHCOM release from March 23, 2026, she will also make port visits in Brazil, Chile, Panama, and Jamaica, as she circumnavigates the continent of South America.
