The reason why this piggyback thing stinks is because you are obligating yourself to use one arm over everyone else out of the bullpen no matter what the starting pitcher does. Castillo was rolling. Up 7-0. Could have saved Miller for tomorrow for example. And if he's in the pen full time, possibly twice before Castillos next start. Instead, you've probably burned him for the next 5 days

The Mariners moved AJ Pollack at the deadline for peanuts in 2023 and cut Kolton Wong in August of 2022, eating over $3 million in guaranteed money in his case. I get the Refsnyder frustration, but it’s been less than 70 AB’s. This isn’t just a guy who was “OK “ vs. LHP, or even league-average. But since 2022 he’s mashed .312/.407/.516/.924 vs LHP with a 155 wRC+ They’re going to give him some more time, as they should. If he doesn’t turn it around they’ll do what they have to to eat the salary and cut bait. It’s just not going to happen on the fans timeline.
