If Brock/Leon think its best strategically, fine, but if its spending austerity, what use is JD?

This doesn’t impact the idea of the Knicks going over the second apron or not If they were getting Diawara back on basically league minimum for multiple seasons, they were doing it regardless

Mohamed Diawara was certainly going to get significant interest from other teams as a restricted free agent, per league sources. Knicks and Diawara are working on eight figure deal to bring the rookie back to NY. Not done, but all signs pointing to it getting done, sources confirm. Diawara felt welcomed by NY from Day One and was very comfortable with his teammates. So even if another big offer came, NY had an edge. ESPN first reported Diawara deal.

@SamQuinnCBS To your point - this front office is clever enough to go back under the second apron and revive that flexibility if they see areas for improvement IMO. If they stay under for this free agency, I don’t see a way the team can be more talented heading into next season w/o retention

Personally I’d go into the second apron and run it back for two years. I understand the logic of not doing so, though, even if I disagree with it. This front office has such a strong track record that the flexibility it would deprive them of could potentially be significant.
