Campaign Against Antisemitism
We are absolutely heartbroken that this is how low Britain has sunk. This horrific act truly plumbs new depths. Hatzola is a volunteer-run ambulance service run by the Jewish community but catering to everyone, Jews and non-Jews alike, working with the NHS to save lives as fast as possible. They provide outstanding medical care at lightning speed every hour of every day, and fundraise to buy ambulances and equipment. They are truly a shining example of the Jewish community coming together to help everyone in the most fundamental of ways by giving the gift of life. Burning their ambulances in an attempt to put them out of action is a truly repulsive act of antisemitic hatred in a Britain where Jews now have to keep everything from schools to synagogues under constant guard. Our society has become infested with the sickness of antisemitism. In this case it is not only about catching the perpetrators and restoring the ambulances, but about politicians accepting that by tolerating everything from hate marches to hate preachers, they have created this sickening mess, and time has run out for them to act. The law must change, fast, but so must society. The people spewing obsessive conspiracy theories about Jews, Zionists and Israelis are not social justice warriors, they are hateful bigots who are feeding this madness and must be stood up to and told as much by ordinary decent people.

HOW THE BBC BETRAYED JENNI MURRAY, by Julie Bindel (@bindelj) My friendship with Jenni Murray was cemented, believe it or not, at a lap dance club in Streatham. It was back in the early 2000s. I’d been a guest on Woman’s Hour, which Jenni had been presenting since 1987, a couple of weeks earlier. After the programme, Jenni asked me to stick around for a chat. She wanted to talk to me about the sexual liberation of women, because she disagreed with some of my points of view on pornography, lap dancing, and prostitution. While not keen on any of the above, Jenni was a classical liberal, and wondered whether, after decades of feminism, women could now be sexually liberated. She was thinking of writing a book on the theme. ‘After all,’ she said, ‘there’s even a lap dance club solely for women these days.’ She meant a place called Caesars, which was a dive on Streatham High Road that gave over one night a month to a women’s night: ‘Lap-Attack.’ We agreed to visit Lap-Attack together. It was horrific. The male performers appeared exploited and unhappy, while the female punters were mostly blind drunk and trying their best to pretend they were having fun. In the toilets, I encountered a group of lively black women in their twenties. One of them asked me, ‘Is that Jenni Murray out there? She’s my heroine.’ I told Jenni, who was thrilled at the idea that a working-class woman in a lap-dance club would love what she was doing. Jenni and I, both working-class feminists, remained friends for the rest of her life. She was a titan, presenting Woman’s Hour until she was 70. She would have done it longer, I believe, had she not been dogged by critics who believed her to be ‘transphobic’. Her beloved BBC let her down, leading to her resignation. Now that Jenni has died, aged 75, the corporation is giving her the recognition she deserved as a broadcaster — but I remember her bravery, too. Read more below ⬇️ buff.ly/NjQZi6d

Oh no! Jenni Murray 😢 She was wonderful on @BBCWomansHour She interviewed me about Becoming Unbecoming in 2015 and was so kind and insightful. I was absolutely terrified to be on live radio but she put me totally at ease bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

I had meningitis in my early teens. I was lucky to survive. Saw a doctor in the morning who told me the dizzy ache was “growing pains.” It was a different era. Doctors are much better today but it kills in hours. I was unconscious by the time I got to hospital that afternoon.

I can remember so clearly being wheeled through hospital corridors. The bright lights overhead. Slipping in & out of consciousness. My dad had carried me in his arms from the car. He’s not a big man & I was thirteen! Proper did his back in.

Things to look out for are a dislike of bright lights, a stiff neck-can you put your chin on your chest? Can you look up in the air? By the time you get a rash it’s too late.

@polblonde @BBCWomansHour This little book of brief essays, by @polblonde, is brilliantly readable, and jaw-droppingly shocking. I can't recommend it highly enough - it was first published in 1989, and hasn't dated by a minute....

If @BBCWomansHour wants to interview someone about misogyny, I'm available. In the old days, when it was a programme for women, they devoted a whole edition to my book Misogynies.

@SamuelVimes10 My mother did this to me, my son and now my nephew. She is a lifelong alcoholic who developed a psychosis in later life. When I hit 30 I worked out what was happening but I had to fight her off for some time before I got my independence. It’s deeply damaging

Seems sort of obvious but not sure I've seen it spelt out that way (though I assume I haven't just created the idea) Active deliberate slight damage to your child's prospects might simply often...make sense?

Having a conversation trying to explain that it's not obvious that family will try and turn children into the best adults they can be. It can be adaptove to hobble your kids so they are always dependent, and therefore also forced to be supportive.

Seems to me that one group of divisive idiots have beaten another group of divisive idiots in Gorton & Denton to the detriment of normies caught between them. Plus I’m dismayed that the left can only see Reform as divisive but not the Greens 🤷🏻‍♀️ Same circus, different clowns.

I’m horrified. There’s a loud voice in my head crying out, “Please make it stop.” Yet at the same time I’m terrified it will eventually just stop and we’ll all have to move on—because who can function seeing this inconceivable depravity being slowly revealed day after day? I thought the protection of children was paramount, but we’ve allowed so many atrocities to take place under the watch of so-called “elites,” it’s almost unfathomable. Whether it’s trafficking children across borders, covering up vast rape gangs, or “transing” them, experimenting on kids for the sake of the most disgusting fantasies imaginable—it’s time to really speak truth to power NOW.

@kenanmalik @JohnGale45 Understudy goes home as soon as the principal is in the theatre and on the stage. It happens occasionally that someone is taken ill during a performance but normally a sick singer would know they were sick before the show.

@JohnGale45 We we wondering about understudies. Given that there are three different singers playing Calaf through the run, perhaps they don't have understudies too? It's never happened to me before, so I don't what normally happens.

Drama at the opera tonight. During Turandot at Covent Garden, Roberto Alagna, playing Calaf, took ill and couldn’t come out for Act III. So, Richard Hetherington, ROH’s head of music, but not a trained opera singer, gamely stepped in, to sing from the side. 1/

It could have been here, and it could have been us. Many in Britain will have missed that Walid Saadaoui and Amar Hussein are on trial after police say they caught them with assault rifles and almost 200 rounds of ammunition. This is the moment of their arrest. There has been very limited reporting of this trial. “Their plan was to get the weapons and ammunition and identify a mass-gathering of Jewish people whom they could attack” say the prosecution. It is alleged that the defendants were waiting for a further 700 rounds before embarking on a mass shooting. 700 rounds. Both Walid Saadaoui and Amar Hussein deny terror charges, as does Bilel Saadaoui (brother of Walid) who is accused of failing to disclose acts of terrorism. What happened in Sydney will happen again and again until the West wakes up. The enemy is at the gate. Our politicians are out of time. There is not a moment to lose. manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-m…

@jonnybid I’m an artist. I specialise in drawing. I’ve made 4 graphic novels & taught fine art & illustration. Encourage her to draw from observation. Avoid YouTube, there’s a lot of nonsense on there. She should keep a sketch book & filled with it with anything at all that interests her.

I have a pupil in my class (Year 6) who did this in about ten minutes. She's massively talented. Some ideas about how to help her move forward would be very much appreciated. Art isn't really my speciality.

I am not very well. In hospital. It is truly dismal to be in this state but at least I get a nice lie down. Something, somewhere in my body is trying to bring me to a halt. Waiting on a scan today. Wish me luck.
