@modernheroestv Our local bus service (X4 from Bristol to Portishead) uses those Yutong electric buses. They are really nice. Modern, comfortable, silent and have USB charging ports, way better than the crappy diesel buses they used to use.

Tyres on EVs last around 30% less time than those on ICE cars.. All about weight. Also of course leave a lot more micro plastics behind them as result (or so a tyre man tells me..). Maybe it's just a different kind of pollution.

Having said that,regen braking on an EV is a lot stronger than ICE engine braking-in light traffic I can do my 15-mile commute without ever touching the brake, even our old diesel Montego couldn't do that

That so big a car weighed just over a ton will have helped. The generally dumb battery car fan raving about rEgeN (regens next to nothing) has never heard of engine-braking.

Not sure about Canadian law but in the US, driving a vehicle into a person is attempted murder. Minnesota Statute § 609.066 allows Law enforcement to use deadly force if they believe they are going to experience great bodily harm. If she were driving away, that would not have been justified. But she intentionally drove into a sworn peace officer, almost running him over. Minnesota Statutes § 609.2113 makes it a criminal offense to attempt to use a vehicle to cause great bodily harm. This, it was justifiable homicide. If your government didn’t take away your guns, you would be able to protect your daughters. Guns aren’t the problem. Communist/Islamists are.

The ban on handguns was not imposed by the gov't, it was brought in due to public demand, after a school shooting - unlike the US, we believe that children's lives are more important than gun ownership.

Attacking the US East Coast from Europe would be extremely difficult, even without US bases there. The Atlantic's vast distance (3,000+ miles) requires advanced naval/air/missile capabilities, facing US superiority in submarines, carriers, and defenses like Aegis. Loss of bases weakens forward deterrence but not core homeland security. Russia retaking Alaska is highly unlikely—no legal claim since 1867 sale, and it would trigger full US retaliation, potentially WW3. Rhetoric exists, but no serious 2026 moves.

Our position on Greenland is very clear – it is part of the Kingdom of Denmark and its future is a matter for the Greenlanders and the Danes. We have also made clear that Arctic Security matters for the whole of NATO and allies should all do more together to address the threat from Russia across different parts of the Arctic. Applying tariffs on allies for pursuing the collective security of NATO allies is completely wrong. We will of course be pursuing this directly with the US administration.
