@a80486dx2 @garrytan CEOs like to keep themselves surrounded by mediocre folks. It generally makes them feel good about themselves.

@garrytan You're just used to interact with devs who code at 0.5x (or less) at average. Obviously you never interacted people who developed at 50x before AI was even available. If you have been, you would realize how ridiculous you sound to them right now.

@quxiaoyin Yes. Hire Eminem next time as a vibe coder. He will be the fastest to give instructions to the LLMs.

I realize non-programmers, if smart, can vibe code much faster than senior programmers on average. They just trust AI with everything and see great results.

@Grady_Booch He knows that I think. He probably just invested in some vibe coding app so he is just hyping things up to make some quick bucks and get an exit as soon as possible.

Most anti-AI arguments collapse the moment you ask one rude question: If AI is slop and worthless, why does it make you this emotional?

genuine question: why are the arts and gaming communities so fucking touchy about ai? i get that 99% of examples are slop but we’re reaching a point where ai-generated media is indistinguishable for 90% of the world that shouldn’t go un-acknowledged just because you want to hide behind a professional identity ai isn’t going away, it’s getting (a lot) better, so why not try and figure out how to work with it to your advantage? isn’t that what a bunch of hollywood is realising now? doomer: “NO THIS IS NOWHERE CLOSE TO PIXAR GRADE” 8 year old (target audience): “haha that’s awesome” what am i missing?
Is this a 3D model?@IsThisA3DModel

no and this is nowhere close to "Pixar-grade"

@rishikagupta__ The quality of upcoming senior engineers will be pretty low. Generally the coming generation is always supposed to be better than the previous generation, but AI I feel will reverse that in its current form.

Every company is tracking the usage of AI by their employees and pushing them to use it as much as possible. But with AI, people have stopped thinking(specially engineers in their early years) Whenever a problem is given to them, they first let AI do the thinking. The problem with this is, eventually engineers will start accepting whatever AI is suggesting because they won’t even know the right questions to ask anymore.

@asaio87 True. AI is just not there yet. They are just selling hope at this point for their own personal benefits.

What a false statement from this AI hyper person. If you wanted to build software before AI, you could literally hire a guy for $500-$5,000 and build that app or whatever you were building. Yes it was not perfect, but I think it was way better than what you can obtain right now as a non-developer using Claude Code... way way better. Do you think people who develop an app with Claude will not have to hire professional developers to make that app actually good and usable ? That's the lie they tell you to keep believing AI is the God of us right now.
a16z@a16z

20 million developers used to be the gatekeepers to software. Wabi CEO Eugenia Kuyda on who gets to build now:  "The only people who could make software up until last year or so [were] just professional developers... Very few people in the world." "Even if you have a good idea, go ahead, find an engineer, find a co-founder, find a technical co-founder to build this. But you can't really otherwise build it... It requires a lot." "But now anyone can." "This is just wild." "Before  we had to spend months developing that, developing an app and figuring out some illustrations and sounds. Now you just write one prompt and it's there." @wabi CEO @ekuyda on @solofounders with @julianweisser

Software engineers six months ago: "An engineering manager has to be technical. How would they understand what the team is doing if they can’t build software?" Software engineers today: "Coding is basically solved. Non-technical people can just manage AI agents and build software now." Which is it?
