@SPNick1971 @joesimonssays Agreed! It's like calling pizza "za"; nope!
English

@joesimonssays It’s been a tough schedule to start and team is way more competitive, so I feel great. 45 win season coming. On a side note, whenever I hear someone refer to our team as the “Zers” it makes me cringe. Please stop.

Ok, Blazers Beauties: 10 games in your Zers are 5-5, how we feeling out there? #RCWrapUp
English

@basketghoul have you heard the Todd Snider song "DB Cooper"? Might be good background music as you create your next Blazers #1 Banger!

@nub Well at least some pandemics in human history have been credibly traced to laboratories; accidents happen! ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/P…
English

Up until the recent DoE report, the FBI has been the only govt agency to say it's a lab leak.
Importantly, the FBI has no evidence. None whatsoever! Their assessment is just based purely on vibes coming from China.
FBI@FBI
#FBI Director Wray confirmed that the Bureau has assessed that the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic likely originated from a lab incident in Wuhan, China.

@GuloThoughts Not quite a wetland, but a lovely walk on boards in Portland's Leach Botanical Garden.

English

Since this post seems to be bringing all of my fellow wetland fans out of the woodwork, please share your wetland crush and/or favorite boardwalk, I absolutely want to know
Charles B. van Rees@GuloThoughts
As a wetland enthusiast and conservation scientist, I cannot explain how excited I get about boardwalks

@angus_with @chr1sa @COVID19Tracking I think you need to revisit the colors the plot legend; France & Germany are barely visible amongst the group of countries near 0 deaths/day.
English

Today's Covid19 new cases and deaths stats from @COVID19Tracking
The US, Brazil and India are all around 1k deaths/day now, with the US falling and India rising.
New cases in the US are still falling and the 7-day average is now below 50k/day

@lymanstoneky I too would like to see a table comparing rapid test sensitivity / specificity, as I found this argument for daily quick-turnaround testing quite compelling: marginalrevolution.com/marginalrevolu…

This line is so boring and forever-taking... but the comfortable ambiance makes it all worthwhile!

We're in full swing producing shields and other PPE. Yesterday we donated 50+ to medical professionals in OR and CA, and a team at PSU is evaluating a new laser cut model. If your org needs face shields or other PPE, please contact us through our web site. pdxhs.org

@Ernie19861 @johnrobb @willchamberlain This is plotting the number of TESTS by country, not the number of cases
English

@johnrobb @willchamberlain That’s expected because there’s more testing. Note however the mortality rate is flat and decreasing.
English

Today's test chart. US still zooming. More, faster, easier.
#buytimefortests
Take measures now to slow the growth of the pandemic so tests can have an effect when they arrive.
Update S. Korea, their still zooming too.

@TheMicromuseums @inaturalist And most likely the only marine creature which continues to accelerate after leaving the water!
English

It's a bird. It's a plane. It's a flying squid?! The lesser flying squid is the only mollusk that can fly. Okay, more like glide in the air...
(Thanks to the citizen scientists at @inaturalist for this photo.)

@BrainGrone Great photo! The polygonal specular highlight on the eye caught my... eye. Artifact or related to hex packing of ommatidia?
English

@DannaStaaf @BrainGrone Maybe a Caribbean reef squid? I guess they are fairly shallow.
