@HoliumCorp Very similar to what @ajlamarc has been up to with Philips hue, @mopfelwinrux and @NativePlanetIO have been aiming towards: I enjoy my connected home. I like my wifi mesh network with built in speakers. But I want it to be my voice assistant, my ai, my urbit home.

Our goal is to make Urbit useful for millions of people. What is something you really need Urbit to do? The one thing you would need in order to make Urbit your primary digital home?

@tomfex_pitlux @nameloceroom @urbit i'm not a 'they'. similarly can endorse %radio though, very cool app and amazing use case for urbit dapps.

i just checked and after uninstalling a bunch of stuff i didn't use enough to keep in my loom, and then downloading new things to explore, i have 31 apps on my @urbit. so lets start a little thread about some of them:

@tocwex @_dalten @QuartusCo @SafePen @vinneycavallo I'm realizing this is from Feb 8, but %radio by @AssemblyCap is the best app I've interacted with yet. Chat over video stream. Also just built-in audio chats in rooms through Realm- absolutely out of this world. Can't wait until they pull off more than 6 participants.

@nameloceroom @tocwex @urbit urbit.org/ecosystem?type… This is also helpful, but this thread adds more detail than the devs used to describe their apps. Totally agree, apps are few and far between. BUT they forgot %radio!

@tocwex @urbit I find app discovery pretty difficult on Urbit, unless I’m missing something. Twitter threads like these and word of mouth are how I’ve found everything

Routing audio from %radio by @AssemblyCap through a room by @HoliumCorp. 2 planets, 2 Realms (Mac/PC), hosted on @NativePlanetIO's Groundseg (installed on NUC bottom right). I might just %blog about it, @dachus_tiprel @urbit is captivating more of my time these days. Keep it up!

@jae_tacen @urbit it doesn't have a good revenue model for venture capital yet. there have been debates recently about urbit being fun, or pure, or attracting capital, or whatever else. it is true that it needs to attract capital, but most people are trying to apply existing saas business models..

@balajis Seriously, please just use Urbit. It can be buggy, and it's not fully featured yet... but it's building the internet from the ground up. And it's yours. It's the most exciting thing being built right now.

@dachus_tiprel @viennahypertext I think @marsreviewer has done a phenomenal job bringing the creative non-dev tech savvy intellectuals. That particular type of individual is how you create a culture shift in urbit's favor.

@dachus_tiprel @viennahypertext But nothing should feel more rewarding than the experience owning your own planet. As a non-developer, creative biz dev, 70% of my enjoyment is the sigil/unique planet name, 30% is the mental explosion from eliminating the middle man in fully p2p networking.
