atched The Last Leg — they called out Tommy Robinson, but still used ableist slurs for laughs. On a show meant to champion disabled people? That’s a punch down. Channel 4, do better. Adam Hills, do better. Guz Khan, do better. #Ableism #DisabilityRights #DoBetter #DisabledLIfe

This chart is a warning: the UK has suffered a 16-year collapse in its ability to raise living standards. GDP per capita is still below 2019, tens of points behind where it should be. No major economy has fallen further behind its own trajectory. If we don’t fix this, we don’t just get poorer. We drift toward emerging-market living standards while Europe stagnates beside us. A stagnant Europe leaves the world bipolar: the US on one side, China/Russia/Iran on the other, a powerless continent in between. The US escaped its productivity slump by building global technology platforms. We didn’t. The bill is due. Either we build a system where generational companies can start, scale, and list here. Or we accept decline. There is no third option.

Building something new is… a ride. One day you’re testing a fresh GTM, second-guessing every assumption, wondering if you’re the only person who thinks this thing should exist. The next day you’re on the phone with someone squarely in your ICP — here, a PE leader — and they say this: “I love it. Congrats on what you’re doing. There is hands down a market need. We’re exactly the right target for you at [ABC]. What you’re building is very attractive to us, and I have some thoughts on next steps.” Those moments don’t make the hard parts disappear… but they do make you double down. 🧗‍♀️

Agreed – the ‘Windrush rebuilt Britain’ story is largely a myth. Post-war reconstruction was done mainly by British servicemen, women, Irish labour and European workers. Caribbean arrivals filled some gaps (buses, nursing, textiles) but weren’t the saviours of the economy and many came on their own initiative. That said, they were overwhelmingly decent, hardworking, law-abiding people who arrived legally as British citizens, faced real racism (“No blacks, no Irish, no dogs”), and mostly integrated successfully. It’s not remotely the same as today’s mass asylum migration, illegal small-boat arrivals, mostly young men from safe countries, high rates of rejected claims, and little effort to integrate. Conflating the two dishonours the genuine struggles and contributions of the Windrush generation.

"The whole Windrush story is a preposterous legend. Labour shortages in 1940s Britain? There were returning armies! The entire myth that Britain was built by immigrants begins with a demonstrable lie." @DrDStarkeyCBE on the Sceptic. Full episode👇

🇬🇧 Meanwhile in the Upper Middle Class City of Bath. “So this is what we’ve got to do now with Christmas markets” The UK SW City of Bath is one of the most affluent areas of the country, yet somehow the famous English city is now forced utilise diversity barriers. Caption is right - what happens when the % demographics swing even further ⁉️

new from me on @every: opus 4.5 blew me away this week. i built fully featured reading companion app that i now use every day, in between meetings without looking at the code. two things that are important: - we just reached a new level of autonomous coding. you've been able to one-shot an impressive app demo for a while now with any frontier model. opus 4.5 is the first model that just keeps coding and coding without running into endless loops of errors. - prompt-native apps are now possible. opus 4.5 can now act as a general-purpose agent INSIDE your app, to power many of your features. this turns building features into an exercise in writing prompts—instead of writing code. it's the same paradigm claude code uses but now available for non-coding usecases. more on @every here: every.to/chain-of-thoug…

Introducing Whisper Thunder aka Gen-4.5. Today, we are excited to share our new frontier model. Gen-4.5 was built by a team that fits onto two school buses and decided to take on the largest companies in the world. We are David and we’ve brought one hell of a slingshot.

@wolfejosh There was more black people living in South Africa. I’m pretty pro Israel (hence my disappointment at post Oct 7 behaviour) but reductivism doesn’t help anyone.

Did you know there is a Jewish police force in the UK? They are voluntary and have no powers of arrest. They exist to protect the Jewish community. Just imagine the uproar if we had a Muslim police force in the UK going around in police cars. The usual suspects would be in complete meltdown.

This is great to see. Scaling AI Growth Zones nationwide was one of the core pillars of the AI Opportunities Action Plan - my successor Jade and her team have done amazing work pushing this to such a positive outcome!
