The political left engages in sleight of hand when characterizing Jesus as apolitical or non-partisan because the issue isn’t whether Jesus would have had a party affiliation, which I concede He wouldn’t; He obviously transcends politics. Their aim is to distance Him from conservative principles, though they are grounded in Biblical principles. For example, Jesus is the Author of Life, while the Adversary is the author and advocate for death. Therefore, it is grotesque to depict protection of unborn babies as a partisan matter. The fact that only one party defends the unborn doesn’t mean the issue is political or partisan. Preaching a pro-life message from the pulpit isn’t engaging in partisan politics; it’s obedience; it’s honoring God’s Word. Conservatives aren’t trying to crassly co-opt Jesus for political gain; they are trying to promote Biblical principles, and they have a duty to engage in politics to further those principles where their political positions are consistent with Biblical principles.

We can’t cherry-pick virtues. Christ is the whole package—Savior, Priest, Judge, and King—not just the empathetic friend who validates every feeling. To follow Christ means embracing all His attributes, not just the ones that fit our personal preferences or cultural trends. Yes, empathy is important, but so are truth, righteousness, justice, and holiness. Christ showed empathy to the woman caught in adultery, but He also said, “Go and sin no more.” He calls us to love, but love must be grounded in truth, or it ceases to be love. If we only emphasize empathy, we risk reducing the gospel to mere affirmation rather than the transformative power it was meant to be. Christ isn’t just a therapist for our feelings—He’s the Lord of our lives.

@tonynisly They turned it over on the last one cuz Hunter didn’t run the play. Stood there and watched the dude tip it then proceeded to continue guarding no one. Then he misses a critical boxout. Guards could have played better but that’s not why we lost. Free throws also win the game.
