No matter how you slice it (pun intended), I love seeing this come back. This seriously motivated my love of reading when I was kid. I'm thinking about starting my own with my teenagers.

I disagree. They did not address the issue (there is no mention on what caused the corrsion) and no concrete steps provided how they are planning to remediate it by Q3. The only thing going for (per this press release) then is that this was seen on previous ISS parts, the corrosion was fixed, and they've been working fine since. This still begs the question if you saw this on previous parts, why wasn't the lessons learned implemented into the current design?

Here is the promised statement from Thales Alenia Space on the corrosion issue affecting several pressurised elements the company has produced, including the HALO and I-HAB modules for the Gateway space station.

Thales Alenia Space has told me that they'll share a statement early next week. I personally think this delay is a catastrophic PR failure, but I am still interested in what they have to say. I also think that while NASA Administrator Isaacman was clearly right on the facts, it was the wrong form and forum for that information, and his choice not to share the corrective measures being implemented is baffling.

@AndrewParsonson Was there any more details on the "well known" behavior? Seems like there is a gap in their controls process or a conflicting requirement. This is a pretty poor PR statement in my opinion. It just leads to more, somewhat concerning/alarming, questions.

I agree. If they have a corrective plan in place, now is the time speak. The public is going to fill the void and assume the worst until then [Foreshadowimg]. Jared has been pretty forthcoming (and even handed in my opinion), and the fact that he didn't share the corrective action plan makes me wonder if the plan is not yet complete or if ESA still hasn't found root cause. This might also explain the delay in responding by Thales 🤔

It looks really promising. The fact that it fairly backwards compatible gives it a strong chance for adoptions (unlike ipv6). The only thing that I read in the draft that caused me any concern with the CF score. It seems like the non mesurable parts could be gamed to direct traffic flow.

hmm finally admitted ipv6 is a mess and dropped an internet draft for ipv8 if an ipv4 address looks like 1.1.1.1, an ipv8 address looks like 1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1 kinda wild it took 25 years to just suggest making the numbers longer haha
