IMO, a lot of people don't have a worldview. For them, politics is about gender performance. Andrew Schulz fantasizes about joining the military to fight for his country, but won't set his thermostat to 78°. It's not about civic responsibility, but about performing machismo.

While Neera is on her like 20th anti-Leftist post (I've lost count it could be more). This is how many times she's posted about Mitch McConnell. TLDR: If a person never really posts all that much about the Republican opposition, maybe they aren't an opponent at all.😏

It was a shock this morning to find out that my friend Lindsey Graham has died. He was a man who loved his work, his country, and his family. He didn’t have an easy life growing up and to me that explained a lot about him as well as his devotion to his remaining family members including his sister. It also explained his almost kid-like exuberance about his job and the responsibilities he was given (even in his sixties he would get off a plane in a foreign land with a twinkle in his eye and look at me as if to say, can you believe we are actually here and doing this?). Lindsey was loyal to friends and causes. He was willing to work on gnarly issues and take on (at times) political risks for the right reasons. It is fitting that he died shortly after visiting Ukraine, one of those causes he would stand up for through thick and thin. Much will be said in the coming days about his relationships with others—President Trump and John McCain for instance—but what can’t be forgotten is the reason why so many people he worked with—from senators to staff—will mourn his loss: Lindsey had a zest for life and the Senate that made you want to get to work on a bill with him or at least debate him. He brought joy to his job. Lindsey Graham was the one who was willing to work with me (when so few would) on helping the Afghan refugees. I remember standing outside of a little phone booth in the Republican cloakroom last year as he spoke with the Vice President, holding up a sign that said “Save the Afghans” and he put the phone on hold and said “OK OK I will go on your bill even if it gets me in trouble.” Or his early willingness to lead on big tech bills, including repealing the provision that protects them from consumer suits. But mostly my fond memories of spending time with Lindsey (and we travelled the world with John McCain) was not about the ups and downs of his policy positions. It was about his love for the world, his loyalty to hard causes and his friends, and the pure joy he brought to life. I will miss him.

Saddened to hear of Lindsay’s death though we so regularly disagreed. But he was a good friend and an amazingly effective Senator. Also, the funniest. One Christmas break I told him my family was going to Puerto Rico. He said, “Do two fundraisers. One for those who are pro-statehood and one for those who are against it. They never talk to each other.”

@DeepNotShallow I don’t think she would publicly state any intention before re-election. Constituent services is one of her most important and impressive passions and she excels at that. To admit she will be moving on in the midst of the current election is unlikely (for either trajectory).

AOC probably should tell folks whether or not she's running for President or Senate so we can figure out an actual plan either way. If AOC or another member of her stature doesn't run, what is going to be the DSA plan for 2028 President? Just sit out?

Based on current polling Mills would have been like D +3 to R +3 now? Idk how but her campaign seemed to have completely ruined her image. We got multiple polls showing her running equal to post cheating platner. Which is kind of crazy.

We @SearchlightInst enjoyed collaborating with @zeteo_news on this M4A polling. It gets at the question of why M4A starts off reasonably popular but gets less popular as people learn specifics. (Tl;dr: it’s because people don’t want to be forced off their private insurance.) 1/x

@ColeSandick I’ve been thinking if the convention selects someone too establishment (no M4A, weak on Israel, etc) that could ricochet pretty badly and drive engagement/organizing in other states while potentially dragging Pingree by suppressing turn out/excitement in state. Idk.

I actually think the centrist reaction to Platner will backfire. They’re taking a normal sized W and way overplaying their hand with off the charts identity politics extremism, diatribes against voters and attempted cancellation of literally all leftists. It’s too much too fast.
