Another lesson I learned this year came from losing speed. 2️⃣ Adaptability Working harder wasn’t the answer. And honestly, I’ve always had a hard time with change. Progress came when I was willing to adjust — breaking things down, going back to the basics, and focusing on one change at a time. That process helped me move through the change faster and led to a new PR this summer, surpassing my goal of 60mph and hitting 62mph in a game. Change isn’t failure. Another lesson I learned this year came from my training habits. 3️⃣ Process I learned that consistency only works when it’s paired with intention. I was consistent, but I wasn’t always improving because I was just going through the motions instead of training with a clear purpose. Progress started to show up when every rep had a reason and every session had a plan. I had to unlearn someone else’s voice to find my own again. 4️⃣ Mental Health I didn’t realize how much outside voices were affecting my confidence and performance. Over time, doubt showed up — not because of effort, but because of what I was telling myself. Working harder wasn’t the solution. Mental training helped me slow down, quiet the wrong voices, and trust who I am again as a player. Taking care of my mental health didn’t make me softer. It helped me get my game back.
