So destiny is at end of service, half the studio is gone, the game that they did invest in just lost its game director and many high level devs, and as far as we are aware there are still ZERO greenlit incubation projects What on earth is going on?

@casualblu3 Directors often leave after completing the enormous push required to ship a game, especially when the next phase becomes less about creating the original product and more about retention, balancing, monetization and seasonal production.

So its clear they are going to go down a destiny-ish route. Zieglers vision for the game was "good." I love season 1. Ultimately though the game really missed the mark commercially and even with keeping its core players so it's only right he step down.
It's the job of a director. it's your vision, you lead, if it fails you should go. Its much better than Ziegler hanging around and everyone else below him being fired like what happens at some many studios / companies.
It's a swing and a miss. I much prefer we get games like marathon that are trying something different though. The industry is better when studios are taking risks and try new things, instead of churning out focus tested annual engagement optimised slop

Hey everyone I've got a bit of an announcement to make. Today, Friday 7/17, will be my last day at Bungie and I'll be passing the torch of Game Director to the very capable and amazing hands of Del Chafe III, who will guide the game forward alongside the Creative Director Julia Nardin. Both of them have been operating in a strong leadership capacity for the team and are ready to guide Marathon into the next chapter with an even better and brighter future. I'm proud of them and I'm excited to see them helm the future of this crazy little world we've created together. As for me, I'll be heading to something new, somewhere else, and will update you on where and what soon. I just want to say a deeply heartfelt thank you to all of you for supporting me and Marathon in our windy mission to bring a dark and terrifying space survival frontier to your screen. The mission will continue in new and surprising ways so stay tuned for what this team has in store for you! It's been a pleasure seeing all the stories you've created, all the clever ways you've found ways to murder robots and one another. Hopefully as I move onto new things, you'll join me for those adventures as well. Much love to the Marathon community and to all my friends and colleagues at Bungie. May we cross paths again. @personalhimbo Yeah I have to assume the back half of June and first part of July is just about putting head back on, picking up the pieces, MASSIVE roadmap cuts and delays and process changes and new issues around roles impacted, especially qa. I believe in them though 😭
