@saintlouispres Why are we funding a municipal ID program when the state already has a program to provide IDs and obtain necessary documents free of charge?
moidaccess.org
It’s an absolute unnecessary and wasteful drain on the budget.

Today, the Budget & Public Employees committee began reviewing presentations from departments to consider their budgetary needs. These presentations will continue throughout the month of May, allowing the Board of Aldermen to make changes to the budget, if necessary, before returning it to the Board of Estimate & Apportionment for final passage.
After each hearing, my office will provide context and highlight an important program that each department administers.
The Planning & Urban Design Agency is in charge of city planning, design review, construction plan approval, code compliance, and housing assistance. The department oversees the Planning Commission, the Preservation Board, and the Office of Sustainability.
The Public Safety Department is the largest City department, overseeing the Building Division, the City Emergency Management Agency, the Corrections Division, the Office of Violence Prevention, and the Fire Department, among others.
Tomorrow, the committee will hear from the Office of Violence Prevention, the Fire Department, the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Forestry, and the Treasurer’s Office.
Use the link in my bio to find the full committee calendar and ways to participate!

@MarkMaxwellTV The organizer did not even pretend to take an impartial approach to this event

Event organizer knew Rep. Bell was voting in Congress that day. She tells me, "That's your job, we want you to vote." Organizer said Bell's team wanted to get there late if possible, scrambled to send a statement during travel. Called in, but organizers missed the call.

@Citizens4STL @charliekmox Perhaps when @AlderSheenBean is done focusing on his life changing 3am hotdog legislation he can shift focus to these kind of issues

PHOTO: Attached is a photo received this morning from a resident showing the aftermath of last night’s disruptive activities at the surface parking lot at 1101 Washington Avenue. Young men were reported doing doughnuts in multiple vehicles between 9:27 PM and 10:48 PM. Several residents called police to no avail.
The vast majority of space in the Washington Avenue loft district consists of residential lofts. Sustaining these historic buildings requires keeping them occupied with rents and values that outpace inflation. Without that, vacancies and physical deterioration will continue to erode the district’s street-level vitality.
We can no longer pretend that lawless late-night chaos is “vibrancy.” It is time to deprioritize this street-partying culture and instead support the residents and businesses who are working hard to preserve and revitalize downtown St. Louis. #Citizens4STL

Not @WesleyBell4MO scared to show up
AIPAC money can't buy courage, now can it
𝓙𝓲𝓶𝓶𝔂 𝓙@JimmyJ4thewin
The first MO-01 candidate forum featured former Rep. Cori Bush attending in person, while AIPAC-backed Rep. Wesley Bell sent a last-minute surrogate despite weeks of coordination (including date changes and rule negotiations) due to a conflict.
English

@6thWardSTL Additionally (among other egregious shit) the moderator told us asking people open carrying guns if they had a permit was the same thing as the former stop and frisk policy in NYC. Lmfao

WATCH: The first candidate forum for the #MO01 race this cycle between Cori Bush and Wesley Bell.
We’d like to thank former Rep. Cori Bush for carving time out of her schedule to attend and address the issues important to voters this cycle.
While we spent weeks closely working with Rep. Bell’s team to ensure he could attend — including changing the originally planned date, adjusting the evening’s schedule, and beginning to negotiate forum rules to ensure that he would feel comfortable participating — we appreciate his team sending a last-minute surrogate, following a change in the Congressional calendar.
Watch the full video of the forum below.
Thank you to Wards 3, 5, 6, 7, and 8 for hosting the event; acasastl.com for providing the space. Thank you to Committeeman Ben Murray and Committeewoman Inez Bordeaux for moderating, and Alderwoman Jami Cox for introducing the marquee segment of the evening.

@CoriBush You are still trying to get back into this grift? lol.
English

@mistergeezy Cori Bush has been nothing more than a compulsive liar and it’s actually really funny that anyone would donate their money or time to her.
English

Cori Bush lost because Cori Bush.

It's politics@uspolitics1111
Cori Bush lost because her opponent got fifteen million dollars from AIPAC. Jamaal Bowman, too.

@Beganovic2026 @AlderSheenBean And for some customers true cost of the visit to the hotdog stand will range in the hundreds of dollars when price of the broken car window is factored in
English

On a related note regarding Downtown Forward, it foolishly picked a fight with food vendors of all people. It went to sports teams & other stakeholders to kill @AlderSheenBean food truck bill. It was a dumb, silly & unserious fight. Time to pass it

@Beganovic2026 Sorry bub, local government has been focused on passing and rolling out a municipal ID program. Despite the state having a program to provide IDs free of charge already. Fingers crossed that Green, Velasquez and co can buckle down on quality of life for the average St. Louisan.

Can the City just let me have Archie and I’ll get the bike lanes cleaned, obviously this thing isn’t being used at all right now
Mayor Cara Spencer@saintlouismayor
Proud to welcome Archie, the newest member of the City’s Street Dept. team, with a spin down Jefferson! Archie is just the right size to keep bike lanes clean and safe for #STL riders. Thanks to the Streets Dept. and @STLCityGov for this important investment.

@Beganovic2026 Political non binaries understand that two things can be bad at the same time. AND let’s not pretend that you display any consistency in concern for loss of American life. Your hyper fixation with the shit vs. shit race every 2-4 years has filled your brain with shit.

@Beganovic2026 Sorry allow me to rephrase. More than twice as many people have been murdered in Saint Louis this year as have been murdered in the Iran war.

@treeonefore And more than 10 times people have been killed on Missouri roads this year and that fact isn’t bringing back those 15 who died for nothing
