@peterrhague Do they think that removing a lane would not make traffic worse? Why don’t we just use single lane roads everywhere if it has no impact

@ViktorBunin There isn't currently sufficient longevity evidence to support incorporating cold plunge into my protocol. I am supportive of cold plunging generally and think it's great that people vibe with it. Also always open to new evidence though.

Lately, I’ve been seeing more of these redacted, loser takes from “ex”-DeFi builders who are now embracing new positions associated with an alt L1 of their choice. I find that incredibly bullish, as all the rotten apples are finding new homes outside of the Ethereum ecosystem. We’re now in a much better place, able to focus on what truly matters, unbothered by these idiots. Farewell 👋

@FigoETH Can art outgrow its creator? I’ve never paid attention to its founder or current community. Instead I’ve considered it an emblem of cypherpunk-anti-authoritarian ethos. This seemed like a common interpretation based on vitalik embracing it

@HighyieldHarry She put up with his drinking and cheating throughout season 6, but when she learned he’d been quasi-fired she completely lost respect for him. He lost respect for her when she abandoned copywriting (at which she showed talent) for acting, which she needed help to break into

Have you seen how people talk about ai outside of the twitter bubble? How people talk about pharmaceutical companies? How people cheered when a health insurance ceo was murdered? When blackstone’s office was attacked and someone was shot? What do people say about big tech, Zuckerberg? Why so much drama? Why always the drama? You did a lot of good work for ethereum, but why this? Proof of stake is currently less inflationary than this halving of proof of work and likely more stable long term - how’s this a lie?

@malekanoms @austincampbell Austin has many good takes, but it seems like he decided many years ago that bitcoin is the only crypto and everything else is a company. There’s a fundamental misunderstanding of ethereum

@austincampbell But I want it for more sophisticated activities with other assets. Like the woman said, I can have it all! But it starts with permissionless security.

I disagree. TradFi already has controlled and censored and reversible systems. The issuers and users who want those feature can stay there. Being as predictable (and ruthless) as gravity is the only unique value prop of real crypto. Without it, there’s no point. Use a database.
Austin Campbell@austincampbell

0/ This view is utopian, idealistic, and aligned with the cypherpunk mandate of the original crypto believers. It will also be incredibly toxic for real world asset issuers beyond the point of stablecoins.

The seeds of the next bull cycle in crypto are becoming clearer. If I had to guess, here's the sequence of events: 1. AI sucks all the air out of the room for 6+ months 2. CAPEX fears become pronounced going into summer 3. CLARITY quietly passes, GENIUS gets implemented 4. AI fears lead to lower rates, while stables explode 5. Persistently lower rates from AI deflation lead to vol 6. Trading of crypto assets take off 7. Weak coins left for dead, fewer winners emerge 8. Enterprises onchain become enormous trend We are most likely ~9 months out from this becoming consensus.

@VitalikButerin Slowing down ai doesn’t actually change anything. Horses and candles would have still become obsolete whether autos and lightbulbs took twice as long. The main changes are 1) who wins the ai race 2) how many millions will die because we were too scared to cure diseases or aging

I'm actually pretty open-minded about the anti-data-center populism. From everything I've seen from people working on this, reducing industrial-scale hardware availability seems to be both the most practical, and most non-dystopian / non-invasive way to lengthen AGI timelines. So if the movement that makes that happen starts out with anti-data-center populism, that seems fine? Of course you have to do things other than going after data centers located in populated areas to really make a dent on AGI timelines (my intuition is that 10-100x compute reduction is feasible in a "static" model of the world, and 100-10000x if you compare to a counterfactual that includes future chip design progress; those numbers *would* make a dent), but there is a first step for everything.

Hey guys, how's the Iggy Azalea token going? That was so great for adoption. Wanna thank the talking heads at Solana for really backing that one. Totally wasn't glaringly obviously a terrible, net negative thing for our space that further damages our reputation.
