Shariq Khan, CEO of @trustChromatic, met with Prime Minister @CMShehbaz to discuss anti-smoking initiatives. The meeting focused on recognizing Pakistan's progress in improving tobacco policies. @shariqmktweets presented a letter to the PM on behalf of Mr. @MikeBloomberg, recognizing Pakistan’s efforts in improving tobacco policies at a national level. Mr. Shariq shared the accomplishments Chromatic, along with its partners and with support from the government, has been able to achieve under @BloombergDotOrg -funded @TobaccoFreeKids. The PM was updated on the campaign's pivotal role in addressing tobacco consumption in Pakistan, resulting in an impressive 153% boost in tobacco taxes during the past year. Chromatic's nationwide advocacy efforts aimed at safeguarding young individuals from harmful effects associated with tobacco products were also discussed. The discussion aimed to explore potential collaborations between Chromatic and the government to continue the journey towards a smoke-free nation. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to Bloomberg Philanthropies, commended Chromatic's dedication, and reaffirmed the government's determination to eliminate smoking in the country. PM Shahbaz Sharif and Shariq Khan emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive anti-smoking initiatives to address the severe health and socio-economic consequences associated with tobacco consumption. This meeting between Shariq Khan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif signifies a significant step towards a smoke-free Pakistan, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the government and non-governmental organizations.
