Years ago when Obama was running for his first term, my neighbors kept talking about how great Obama was. I never said a word to them about being conservative because back then I was more centrist. At the time I was a 1099 consultant so I paid for my own health insurance. It was about $650 for a family of three and we had a fairly low deductible. After Obama won and the ACA passed, I lost my health insurance and was told by BCBS that I had to go through the government website to apply. My insurance went from an affordable $650 a month to $2400 a month with a $10k deductible per family member. When I said this to my neighbor, they called me a liar. I asked them where they got their news and they said they watched Jon Stewart. I laughed so hard and they never spoke to me again. I’m glad they finally moved. I just wanted to say this: these are the people we are arguing with online. Completely uninformed buffoons. If you get your information from a late night comedian talk show host, we are not on the same level. Good riddance, Colbert.

The border bill was essentially amnesty, it set a number of illegal immigrants that were allowed every week/month before the border was closed. To paraphrase Milton Friedman, illegal immigration is good for the economy as long as it’s illegal. You have to consider the real world effects of the minimum wage in order to understand the benefits. Minimum wage just simply outlaw labor below X value. Illegal workers fill the gap by creating a workforce for the labor that has been outlawed by the government for legal citizens.

I don’t disagree with that statement, but tell me, why do you think that is? When nothing makes sense, I follow the dollars. From a systemic point of view, who benefits the most? Tyson chicken, or your government representative? Let’s figure out who exactly killed that border bill. Our president had the speaker of the house pull it, but who put the pressure on them? How about all of us regardless of political persuasion, get behind the campaign finance reform movement. Getting big money out of politics would take care of a lot of problems.

This proposal is fairly reasonable, however it does change the responsibilities from the federal government onto the citizens. One should be able to trust that people in their country are legally here. Unfortunately the federal government has abdicated their duties for far too long.

I’d like to respond to people who have more than 200 followers and actually put their picture up along with their posts so thank you for that. Tell me, where is the outrage at the companies and corporations hiring illegal immigrants? Construction? Food service and food production? Janitorial services? In-home services? It’s not hard to understand why the border hasn’t been closed yet. These companies have enormous clout politically and they’re getting away with hiring illegal immigrants. They don’t have to pay them much, don’t have to give them benefits, and don’t pay employer taxes. I say we “cut off the head of the snake” and start finding and fining them 20% of their net worth.

I plead guilty to illegal picketing, a Class B petty offense misdemeanor with the same sentencing guidelines as walking your dog off leash on a National Park . They swore no prison time. They lied. Judge Hogan sentenced me to 30 days for “not being remorseful enough” and three years’ probation to tie me up through elections. An unconstitutional "split" sentence. My Judge, Judge Hogan called J6 worse than the war of 1812. All I did was chant "Stop the Steal!" inside the Capitol and wear the wrong Tshirt. God Bless the J6ers!

The uncomfortable reality is that for many workers the transition wouldn’t be from $7 an hour to $15 an hour. It would be from $7 an hour to unemployed.
