Just a few weeks ago, Mr. @BitiTendai, a comrade and human rights lawyer in Zimbabwe, was speaking out strongly condemning our brutal persecution by the Museveni regime following the sham Jan. 2026 election. Unfortunately, as I type this, he has joined the long list of comrades in Africa unfairly detained by their governments for seeking freedom. Biti was arrested alongside other freedom fighters in Zimbabwe for resisting attempts to extend the presidential term there to seven years and restrict the election of the President to members of Parliament only. It is disturbing to see this script, which Ugandans are already familiar with, being deployed in Zimbabwe as well. Biti's arrest is a cowardly attack on all citizens of Zimbabwe by a regime that cannot sustain open debate about their future without resorting to brute force. I call for his immediate, unconditional release together with the colleagues detained with him. The people of Zimbabwe deserve freedom, and leaders chosen by them. The struggle continues!

🚨WANTED🚨 | Help us find Washington Tawanda Gwatsvaira. He rented my Toyota Land Cruiser single cab (registration B254 BTN) in Maun, Botswana, on 8 January. The vehicle was meant to be used only within Maun and for a trip to the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. On 10 January, just outside Francistown, he removed the vehicle tracker. After that, he stopped all communication with the vehicle owner. The owner suspects that Washington may have taken the vehicle into Zimbabwe through an illegal border crossing. It is believed he was deported from Botswana in a similar case in 2019. If you know his whereabouts, please report immediately to @PoliceZimbabwe.

A ban would punish a team for a 15-minute protest that they self-corrected, while the refereeing errors that caused the chaos would likely go unpunished. ​If FIFA bans Senegal, they aren't protecting integrity; they’re protecting incompetence. Senegal didn't walk off because they were losing—they walked off because the officiating was an insult to the sport. They came back, they faced the penalty, and they won on the pitch. Banning a team for refusing to be robbed is just FIFA admitting they care more about optics than fair play.
