@ChShersh It's just the new frontier for you. Congratulations! Finding a muse for learning more can be tricky sometimes. You just happened to hit upon a very nice deep pool to explore.

Don’t know what happened to me but I simply enjoy watching C++ content and learning as much as I can about the language

💾😂 It’s actually wild that Gen Z has never experienced the pure serotonin of watching MS-DOS DEFRAG do its little block dance. Your 4GB 386 is choking on life? Just run DEFRAG and stare at it like it’s 1993 Netflix. Don’t fight the hypnosis… become one with the pixels.😵‍💫

@thekitze Eh.. CoPilot as a gateway to models across providers is still really nice. No need to use a specific CLI, no model lock-in. CoPilot still has legs.

@thdxr Well as long as mythos doesn't find a bunch of RCEs then it will be fine being on pause. I'm in a situation where I can basically wait indefinitely as long as the older versions aren't pulled.

we are impacted by bun stability more than almost anyone, anything they're doing to try and improve that is good simultaneously we're going to wait a long time before considering moving a million daily users to the rust version so we're stuck for now

@JesterJum Who says you cannot tax unrealized gains? The fact that we don't with other assets doesn't mean they are off limits.

If we can't be taxed on unrealized gains, why the fuck are we being taxed on the new increased valuation of our home without selling it? THAT'S UNREALIZED GAINS!

@sivalabs @bunjavascript I fall into this camp. Bun could be written in brainfuck for all I care. It either works and meets my needs or it doesn't. I'm just a bun user, not a bun developer and I don't have any bun API code so 🤷

I am just curious why many people are pissed of about @bunjavascript team rewriting it in Rust using AI 🤔 I understand if the contributors are unhappy because they may prefer Zig over Rust. But for developers using Bun how does it matter as long as it works same and performance is same or better?

@oxcrowx I haven't tried Odin lately, but last fall I gave it a spin and actually enjoyed it, but as soon as I wanted to add a library to my project it just threw up on me in ways that were completely incomprehensible.

You'll have a better experience coding in Go, than in Odin. Try them both and see if I'm lying.

@ChShersh Negative ghost Rider. Platitudes for some one-shotted piece of bullshit is not building or coding. Coding is an art and a craft, building is a craft. They go together like peas and carrots.

I'm still a big fan of Cosmic Desktop. Of all the desktop environments I've used (and that's easily been over a dozen) it fits my hand and pleases my eyes the best. Sadly, I'm probably going to bail out of Pop!_OS. It's very good at what it does, but I want a rolling-release distro. I'm probably going to go with an Arch variant, but I'm treating Cosmic support as a must-have.

PC Gamer: "My time with Linux has been eye-opening, genuinely. Pop! OS is such a beautiful place to be. There was never a day when I got back to the office that I wasn't looking forward to booting up my PC and getting to do some work in the Cosmic environment." pcgamer.com/software/linux…

I love Mel, he refused to eat quich
LaurieWired@lauriewired

There’s a famous Usenet story about a programmer (Mel) who refused higher level abstractions. It was the late 1950s, and even in that era, Mel was…well today we’d call him a boomer. Mel only wrote in raw hexadecimal. He didn’t approve of compilers, and refused to use optimizing assemblers. "You never know where it's going to put things”, he said. Everyone else in the company was moving on to FORTRAN, and they didn’t understand why Mel was so stubborn about using new tools. He *loved* self-modifying code. “If a program can’t rewrite its own code”, he asked, “what good is it?” Mel eventually left the company, and other engineers were tasked with understanding what was left. Mel’s hand-optimized routines always beat the assemblers; but some of it looked absolutely bizarre. One engineer took ~2 weeks to understand why there were loops with no exit condition…yet the program worked fine. I won’t spoil all the details, you should really read it, it’s short. But it’s a fantastic piece on “what defines a real programmer?”…which is becoming increasingly relevant in this vibe-coded era. I strive to understand computers as deeply as Mel! If we aren’t careful, we’re going to lose the “Mels” of this world to time. That’s part of why I go so deep in my youtube videos. I hope that younger viewers are genuinely fascinated by the inner workings of our machines, instead of handing everything off to higher abstractions.

@ThePrimeagen I still really like co-pilot (choosing a model) with vs code. I've not tried the custom cli apps. Seems like extra work.
