Morally, neither option is Russian Roulette. In Russian Roulette, you sin simply by playing at all. In this scenario, the premise is you are given no choice. Given that you must pick a button, I posit blue is the most moral option: to save everyone. Even if an act fails, it is morally good on intent if the object of the act is moral. As I say, I may die, but I will live. The red button can be moral, based on limited knowledge (e.g., if one truly believes the blue button will fail and wants at least to save some). The red button can also be downright evil (e.g., if one positively intends to kill those who don’t press red).

The ppl signaling their virtue by insisting the correct answer is blue, and only evil ppl would pick red dont really understand the question. It isnt a question about your OWN morality, but instead is a question of your perception of everyone else's morality.
And it isnt even a measure of their "morality" but is actually a measure of their survival instincts. Betting against the survival instincts of 50% of the human species is a bad choice.
Anyone who is facing this choice for real and had to think about it for more than 5 minutes would pick red, and more importantly, would council everyone they care about to pick red.

IF your goal is for no one to die (note: this is NOT everyone's goal), then it's just a matter of statistical probabilities. It's far more likely for 51% to pick blue than it is for 100% to pick red, but both scenarios have the end result of no one dying. So, to them, they're picking the better odds, I suppose.
