We can do positive stuff for the individuals who have the disease to help them cope, but right now I think we are skewed too much towards this and not enough towards showing that we are in a medical crisis and need action.

I do wish ME & Long COVID activism would get more raw and graphic and ideally disruptive. Show the people dying, show the people starving, show the kids who haven’t left a bed in 5 years. The reality of ME & Long COVID is not pretty. Let’s not try make it that.

In 2016, construction foreman Jason Haney was helping build an expansion at Memorial Children's Hospital in South Bend, Indiana. Every day, children looked out their hospital windows at the busy construction site. Cranes moved. Workers climbed scaffolding. Steel beams rose higher and higher. Once the hospital let Jason know Waldo had been found, he moved him to a new hiding place for the next day. The idea came from a deeply personal place. Years earlier, Jason had spent countless hours in children's hospitals while his own daughter recovered from a stroke. He knew how long those days could feel, and how even a few minutes of joy could change everything. What started as a sheet of plywood and a little imagination became part of the children's routine. For a few moments each day, they weren't thinking about tests, treatments or surgeries. They were simply trying to find Waldo. And sometimes, giving a child something to look forward to is one of the kindest things a stranger can build

@liamsLCjourney The fix is to use unbiased algorithms for reasoning and hypothesis generation while checking their validity to sort the problem for us instead of having humans do this. Humans are heavily biased for many many reasons.

I feel disheartened about the state of research in #MECFS. I see very few research efforts at the moment trying systematically to understand the bigger picture. Looking at individual pieces of the puzzle isn't enough. We have to connect them.
