Mark Minervini popularized VCP, probably the most explosive & easiest pattern to spot & understand. Yet most traders still can't apply it. Not because VCP is complicated but because they learn the shape & skip the logic. Here's what they miss: VCP isn't a chart pattern. It's story of supply being exhausted - one contraction at a time. Every pullback flushes out weak hands. Each wave of selling gets smaller. By the final tight zone - almost all the sellers are gone. What's left is pure demand. That's when you strike. The checklist: -Prior uptrend ≥30% before the base -Stage 2 only - price above the 50 DEMA -Relative strength beating the index -2-3 contractions - each measurably shallower (eg. T1: 25% → T2: 15% → T3: 5% with tight candles) -Volume drying up at every pullback with pocket pivot -Entry when T3 tight range breaks How I trade it: I don't scan for the whole pattern. I scan for tight bars first -the coiling. Then I look back to see if the full VCP structure is behind it. If yes → mark the pivot → set the alert → wait. When price breaks the pivot with volume I execute. Entry above pivot. Stop below the T3 low - tightest possible stop & maximum reward. Same process. Every setup. No guessing. The pattern works. It has always worked. The only thing that fails is discipline.

Crude oil futures pushed to highs of the day after finding support at the 10-EMA. One of the most textbook momentum setups in any market. Not good for equities or energy prices.

2/18/2026 Daily Recap: It's all about energy! - $OIH $XLE continue to be the leading groups in the market by a mile in 2026 and there doesn't seem to be a reason for that to stop. $XOM $VLO $FANG $OXY $COP $HAL $SLB - $XLV still building out a clean base. over $159 could see some follow through. - $QQQ $SPY continue to chop around but there are already groups trying to lift and show renewed life. - $UFO finally woke up a bit today on the back of $PL $RKLB $KTOS - $ITA the other A&D group holding up well on the back of $GE $NOC $RTX. - $IGV closes 1.2% positive despite the 5th largest holding $PANW closed down 7%. - Earnings continues to be hit or miss. $CVNA 15% implosion on its report. - $IYT digesting its recent gains almost looks ready to continue higher. - $XLP another group still resting while $XLF has been on a recent 3 day bounce. Would love to see financials reclaim the 200sma. - Chop continues but individual names are starting to show up. One day at a time!

I’ve noticed big differences in volume (V) on the 1-minute charts between IBKR, TradingView, Yahoo Finance, etc. Which volume is the correct one? This is important because I want to use AVWAP as an additional criterion, and volume plays a key role there. Why this matters: I mainly do my studies on TradingView charts, where I also use AVWAP. Now I’m trying to implement the same logic in my trading bot, which runs on IBKR subscription market data, and I’m getting different results. Any feedback is appreciated.

First and foremost I need to thank @TradeThePool for an amazing 2025 trading year. Total payouts received in 2025 totaled over $108,000 which is far beyond what I thought was possible.
