My laptop has become a “satellite device” since I started using Codex from my phone. And my Mac mini has become the “home.” It’s clunky, but the end state feels more like how we’re going to be working in the near future: I’m currently running the Codex app on 2 devices: 1. my MacBook 2. my Mac mini My laptop isn’t reliably connected to Wi-Fi enough, so I keep a Mac mini on my desk that is always connected. When I kick off new threads from my phone, I start them on the Mac mini. When I’m working from my desk, I run them there too. The cool part is that I’ve added my MacBook and Mac mini as connected devices to each other. That means I can start and resume threads from either device. So if I’m in a meeting but want to continue a thread on my laptop that was started on my Mac mini, I can do that. I’ve also set up mutual SSH for Mac mini <> MacBook, so files are easy to access from either side. It’s not fully seamless yet, but the model works. What this means: - I have an always-on Codex that is accessible from my phone, with its own dev environment - All threads are always accessible from any of the 3 devices - I can run heartbeat threads that stay on 24/7 It’s a little makeshift today, but the shape of it feels very real to me: Codex is no longer tied to whichever computer happens to be open in front of me. It starts to feel like something I can stay connected to across whatever device I’m using.

@evilsocket You should always let reviews be done by a separate model.

- Claude Code (opus@max effort) writes feature X. - /security-review (opus@max effort) finds no issues in X. - Claude Code (opus@max effort), no initial context but my simple prompt, finds an authentication bypass. How does this make any sense?

You can now use your ChatGPT subscription in the Zed agent, with the same usage and rate limits you benefit from in Codex directly. We're grateful that @openaidevs continues to support subscription-based access for third-party tools, even as others move toward usage-based billing.

@bowerblu @beffjezos Not sure of a "Grok Superheavy" $300/month subscription is actually an advantage. With opencode you can use pretty much anything, including Grok via API.

@beffjezos Comparing Grok Build vs opencode today. Both include features I like, wish I could merge them (eg, opencode works well with neovim). Grok Build just has benefit of using subscription vs opencode uses api tokens, so will be using it for all my expensive jobs for now.

Impressions so far: Grok Build interface is actually really nice. Now as soon as xAI has a SOTA model, it could very well become competitive with Codex / Claude Code overnight

@elonmusk $300/month for an early beta and a sub-par model? That is a joke.

what's the current consensus on thinking level for gpt 5.5? i'm already in /fast mode so speed isn't really a consideration nor is cost.

It's almost impossible to fathom that Claude still doesn't speak or understand German in voice mode. Another reason why OpenAI is on the winning side atm.

Anthropic, can you please delete claude code from existence? We developers have decided that it's time to move on. It feels like we are putting more into this relationship than we're getting out of. It's definitely because of you, not us. We're gonna start seeing other harnesses that support our use cases and respect us who we really are. Leave the keys in the lock when you go out. Have a great life.

@mehulmpt This of this: you buy an expensive Apple MacBook but you're only allowed to run Apple software on it. Does this make sense to you?

The Claude meltdown makes ZERO sense to me honestly. They allow you to use every app in their ecosystem with elevated usage numbers, which is exactly what you want if you are locked into Claude ecosystem (desktop app, design, remote control, etc.) If you want third party harnesses, there are MANY good models already. Why is it so important to use Opus on some random third party inference? There are models equally good, use them!

The current state of the Claude desktop app is something you'd expect from Atlassian. Codex is miles ahead.

Opus: "This is a huge project, it will take at least 3-4 weeks, I wouldn't touch it" Codex: "Hey, let's make a quick prototype and then we see how things go?"
