NOT the 'coincidence' (not a coincidence) of it happening in both germanic and romance languages. @WisdomBuried @Jbn3ex it's not a coincidence that they share the same similarity. they are both indo-european languages, which means their ancestors spoke proto-indo-european. in proto-indo-european, night was very similar to n + eight, and it stayed similar is many of its daughter languages

@MarthKoopa @rolofunk On a first playthrough you don't know what's in those areas and good stuff is hidden in some of them. If we're going to argue about multiple playthroughs then the same criticism applies more or less to souls: if you know where to go and what to get you'll skip encounters.

@ankowaifu I've played 1s, some of 2s, many 3s, 4s, no 5s, and I quite liked 6. Is it different? Yes, but 4 was also quite different from when I started with 3. I might like to see more classic style (maybe 6 mechanics should've been a Frame Gride reboot) but I'd be pleased to get more.

@OutOfTheShadow9 @GenePark Tokimeki Memorial isn't a visual novel, and while the narrative around each girl is important to the experience, it is very much a numbers heavy simulation game with an emphasis on time and information management. I could, but won't, comment on Sakura Wars being called a VN.

@GenePark idk man those aren’t invalid or bad but they sound like visual novels. it’s a passive experience and the controller is basically just turning the page in a book watching a let’s play of mixtape is the same experience as playing it. but playing a game like tetris != watching it

@DUSKdev @CypressDahlia It's not brand new, it's explicitly not a settled issue. I am one of those people who has a more narrow definition of game where LSD is borderline of game/not-game but also considers it an important artistic experience. It doesn't need to be a *game* if it isn't.

As a person who played MGS2 before 1 and VR Missions before both, I can see events that would have felt entirely different had I had context prior. Ultimately it probably doesn't matter, but it's why people ask for an order.

The issue talking about playing through "release order" is that while correct, they're now putting pressure on others to do what they didn't do themselves. We have sales data. More people started with DMC3 and DMC5 than they did DMC1. More people started with Mass Effect 2 than 1

@CypherLucius @armoredcoreSIX An AC4 AC is a NEXT piloted by a LYNX. Where an older AC has a few thousand AP, a NEXT has tens of thousands. A special Raven with cyborg enhancements is game-breakingly strong, but all LYNX are elite psychic cyborgs by default.

@armoredcoreSIX I've always heard that AC6 are a lot slower, more fragile, and have less firepower compared to past AC titles. Ive never played them so I cant judge, but the way folks describe Primal Armor does sound like older AC had a much higher power scale.

Exaggeration especially for humor can be parodic, but it doesn't mean it's mean spirited or satirical. If your argument is just 'parody and homage are antithetical' then I would just disagree on denotation.

Not all parody is satire, and I imagine not all satire is necessarily parody but often is. Note the 'and/or' at the top and the Hutchin's quote toward the bottom.
