Unconvincing sources implausibly documenting highly unlikely events… speculative fiction of all sorts, but mostly bad poetry noir.

@BarackObama @NASA Why'd you decimate the NASA budget so private spaceflight like SpaceX and foreign agencies like the ESA had to shuttle astronauts to the ISS then?

It was inspiring to watch the Artemis II launch yesterday — @NASA’s first crewed mission around the moon since 1972. Our space program has always captured an essential part of what it means to reach beyond what we thought was possible, and I hope the four brave astronauts on this mission will inspire a new generation to follow in their footsteps.

Why does everyone want one of these new automobile thingamabob's? If you are too lazy to ride a horse to town, just stay home. I heard those things can explode and put other people's lives in danger. It only takes one misfire in one of those internal combustathingy engine things to cause an explosion.

Chuck Dixon on why The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is so bad: "What Amazon is doing to Tolkien is an abomination. The people doing the work obviously don’t understand the original work. They are adding elements that are very 2022 to it that five years from now are going to appear laughable. They’re taking a timeless tale and setting it basically in our contemporary zeitgeist. And it’s just wrong." How right is he?

@TopGirlKeiko Heat is obvious though, as long as you can detect heat radar and ultrasound is probably useless, if regular consumers can buy thermo cameras to measure heat on laptops and see birds at night. I meqn comeone heat is the loudest thing to detect every where

Iran shot down all our F-35 stealth fighter aircraft that is invisible on radars. Iran did that because being educated in the sciences, they figured out that detection isn’t based on visibility alone. The heat transmission from the aircraft is detectable. Trump sat at the podium and said “We don’t know how they did that but we will investigate”. Had they not been such an educated and intelligent people, they would have long been beaten into submission.

🚨 Let me explain why Trump actually attacked Iran because it has nothing to do with what they're telling you.. it's not about nuclear weapons.. it's not about helping the Iranian people.. it's not about doing Israel's bidding.. it's about China.. > China imports 45-57% of its oil through the Strait of Hormuz > Iran has the capacity to shut that strait down entirely > a U.S.-aligned Iran means Washington controls the ON/OFF switch for China's energy supply connect the dots.. the U.S. and China have been locked in a tariff war for over a year.. China just threatened export controls on rare earths — and they refine 85-90% of the world's supply.. that means a German manufacturer using Chinese rare earths to make chips for American companies needs CHINA'S PERMISSION to export.. that's how much leverage Beijing has over Washington right now.. > Strait of Hormuz — oil chokepoint > Panama Canal — Trump wants China out > Venezuela — energy reserves > Greenland — melting Arctic shipping routes to China four chokepoints.. one strategy.. EVERY single one cuts off China's energy access.. the AI arms race is the most important strategic competition on the planet right now.. and AI runs on energy.. whoever controls energy access controls who wins.. Iran was reportedly nearing a deal for supersonic anti-ship cruise missiles FROM CHINA.. which would make it easier for Tehran to threaten shipping and strike U.S. naval vessels.. that accelerated the entire timeline.. you're not watching a war on terror.. you're watching the biggest energy chess match in modern history..

@nxt888 If someone watches movies (fiction) and develops a narrative that somehow becomes fact that's their problem. Who does that? Don't think so little of people that they swallow complex issues with a simpler, crafted narrative as fact. That's your own ignorance projected back.

"Hollywood brings soft power." Yes. That's the problem. Soft power is not innocent. Soft power is not neutral. Soft power is not simply culture flowing naturally across borders because people find it interesting. Soft power is the ability to make your version of events the default version. To make your perspective feel like the objective one. To make your heroes feel like humanity's heroes and your victims feel like nobody in particular. Hollywood didn't just make movies about Vietnam. Hollywood made movies about Vietnam that were distributed in every country on earth, subtitled into every language, taught in film schools globally, celebrated with Academy Awards, and absorbed by billions of people who had no other frame of reference for what happened there. And in every single one of those movies, the Vietnamese are either villains, victims with no interiority, or simply bodies. This is what soft power does. It doesn't need to lie. It just needs to choose who gets to be human and who doesn't. It just needs to decide whose grief is cinematically interesting and whose death is background noise. And then it scales that choice across the entire world for fifty years. You called it fascinating. I call it the second war. The one they actually won. Not in the jungles of Vietnam. In the cinemas of London, Paris, São Paulo, and Tokyo. They lost the military war. They won the narrative one. And you, sitting wherever you are, having watched those films, absorbing that framing, calling the question of our three million dead "complex," you are the evidence that the second war worked.
riversorare@riversorare

Totally fair point. But whatever the rights and wrongs. - We can’t just call every war a genocide. - You can hardly expect the other side to build a memorial for their opponents. I mean it’s obvious America is going to tell the story from their perspective. Hollywood brings soft power. - Its fascinating to me how global social media helps break down this hegemony. It really ought to be a way to break down barriers.

@Malatjie_ @druski Natives to the present areas of Germany (Germani) and England (Albions) were taken as slaves by the Romans. A million white men were also enslaved by the Barbary countries (Muslims) and many more women were sold into sex slavery. Learn your history, chum... P!..

@druski Seeing a lot of “but if a white person does blackface nywe nywe…” Caucasians never suffered racial prejudice in their entire existence. They were never enslaved. This can’t be offensive to them. They do not have a right to be offended by this as we never enslaved them.

This is COVID-19 2.0. The fuel shortages are engineered. Completely fabricated by the club of the powerful ruling elite. They want to limit your travel. They want to control your food supply. They want to force you into the cities. They want to make you 100% reliant on them. They want to force your compliance by reliance. They want to control you. Five minutes into the idea of a shortage, and they already have you begging for mandates. Begging for more government control. They have the media sell you the fear, available on every screen and free on every corner. Everywhere you look, there is an sensationalised diet of fear free for the taking. And oh boy do you eat it up, down it like liquor, consume it like candy. In a frenzied panic, you yourselves create a shortage that didn't previously exist. And your inane, fear-fuelled, panicked hysteria causes the demand to outstrip the supply. And then the shortages do start. And of course, the shortage of one necessity flows on to the next, as the supply chain dictates. First comes fuel rations. Then come food rations. Then comes limits on where you can go, and when, and why. Then comes a digital system you have to opt in to which allows you to get your coupons and passes to buy your fuel, buy your food, and travel. Nothing unscrutinised. Everything monitored and limited. Controlled. Because they want to completely control you. And like the absolutely brain-dead bootlickers that you are, you crawl to their feet and beg for the solution that was pre-determined before the manufactured crisis began. "Govern me harder, daddy. Just keep me safe", you wail desperately from your knees. Too stupid to even realise that you quite literally construct your own prison and demand your own jailers. What an embarrassment you all are.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran’s reportedly gearing up big time if the U.S. invades. They say they can send out over 1 million fighters, with more people signing up across the Basij, IRGC, and army. Also warning they’ll push back if the U.S. tries to reopen the Strait of Hormuz while they keep it shut. Looks like they’re getting ready for a long fight Source: @DeItaone
