@MLautmer It's completely regular and its vocabulary is largely European.

@grahamscheper I propose we reverse the trend and introduce new strong forms like 'arrive, arrove, arrivien' or 'preach, praught, praught.'

English has lost many strong verbs (ie. sing, sang; break, broke) over the years. Here’s how we would say them if they were still strong: walked -> welk shaped -> shoop laughed -> lough (pron. like ‘enough’) folded -> feld We are actively losing “shone” as well, which is being replaced by “shined” in common conversation. My dialect has completely relegated it as an archaism; if I said something like “the sun shone” I would probably get strange looks. More than I usually do, that is.

@wylfcen What's the conjugation of 'to wit' in (early) modern English?

Old English used to have two words for to know: witan, which meant to know a fact (“I know that”), and cunnan, which meant being familiar with something (“I know this man”). Now this distinction has been replaced, but witan survives in the word “unwitting.”

@lindiebee Jesus rose from the dead on Sunday, which was the first day of the Jewish week. The Church's week has always started on Sunday.

I was today years old when I learned Americans use a Sunday-start calendar. Why is this? Do you guys frame your weekend days on either side of the week? Why is it so weird to me?

🚨 BREAKING: In a bombshell moment, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ABOLISHES H-1B VISAS from being used at state universities "We can do it with Florida RESIDENTS or AMERICANS! If we can't? Then man, we need to REALLY look deeply at what's going on with this situation!" DeSantis exposed that H-1B AUDITS found colleges were bringing in Chinese people on visas to talk to students about "public policy," among other issues. "Why do we need to bring someone from CHINA to talk about public policy?!" "I am directing today the Florida Board of Governors to PULL THE PLUG on the use of these H-1B visas at our universities." HUGE! I LOVE my state! @GovRonDeSantis ☀️

TWEEPS: Trump’s tantrum is tanking healthcare for millions, blocking Dems who want to fix it! He is LITERALLY threatening healthcare benefits. Can we get 1,000 fast RTs and replies with #DonaldTrumpsShutdown to make it trend? Please and thank you! 🙏💪
