Toast to Love's expenses are covered by her breeder but there is no funds for French Vanilla and we cannot separate them and leave her behind. We are devastated. Hit Zero suffered a medical event walking home after his debut today at Laurel. He was a beloved colt by so many in our barn, owned by our friend Justin Horowitz and Evan Trommer, and named by Justin’s daughter. He was truly a family horse. We are heartbroken.

This is good news that the State of MD passed legislation to protect MD bred racehorses regarding slaughter. However, right now there is a MD bred thoroughbred mare named Crookit (Tattoo Q19207) at a TX lot that needs help ASAP. Who is going to step up for her?

The greed is obscene. After 17 years, we are very close to shutting our doors forever. Very close. In the big scheme of things, we know it won’t really matter, but to the many thoroughbreds whose lives we have saved and can save, it will. Oh - but that’s right, the lives of thoroughbreds in the pipeline don’t matter to the industry. They want the zeroes and don’t want to be heroes. Or let’s just say, they don’t even want to be ethically responsible. Don’t get me started on TAA. We were accredited for 7 years. Never again unless it is completely overhauled. This industry has more excuses than elementary school kids who’ve forgotten their homework. At the end of the day, it’s not about the things you had. It’s about what you did.

Many thoroughbreds have died while the Jockey Club sat on their hands and did nothing. And also while our organization has begged for change for years. They and TAA have sat on millions while we have had our hand out for countless thoroughbreds over and over again trying to save their lives. So many more thoroughbreds would have died if we would not have done what we did to save them. Tyler's Sensation was bad enough and so heartbreaking 💔. There have been other thoroughbreds that have suffered terribly as well , Keepthename ended up at a KS feedlot with a fractured skull that was so bad that you could not even tell where the margins were on the Xrays, how she was even still standing we will never know. She had to be humanely euthanized. 💔 Be Respectful, only 4 years old we pulled from a horrific lot covered in mud, her skin was galded, abscesses in all 4 feet. For thirty days we tried to get her better but the pain & the rotation became too great and we had to let her go. 💔 These are just a few of many. No more silence, no more excuses. Thoroughbreds deserve protection and immediate help when in trouble. Anything less is unacceptable and an even greater injustice to the horses. May these horses not have died in vain and change is forthcoming soon. TYLER’S SENSATION DIED WHILE THE JOCKEY CLUB AND BREEDERS CUP HOARDED MILLIONS. THEY SHOULD BE ASHAMED. RIP...Tyler’s Sensation died on June 5, 2025. Prior to rescue.. Starved. Emaciated. Forgotten. LET THAT SINK IN...this happened while The Breeders’ Cup grew its investment portfolio by more than $50 MILLION over a nine-year period to a current whopping $120 million and The Jockey Club continued hoarding tens of millions more. This industry has money. What it lacks is leadership, urgency, accountability, and MORAL COURAGE, especially those at the top of The Jockey Club and Breeders Cup. YES, YOU HEARD THAT RIGHT...MORAL COURAGE. They had enough money to loan millions to HISA. The Jockey Club even forgave its $1.85 million loan. But somehow there’s never enough money to build a fully funded aftercare system so horses don’t die like this. While horses fall through the cracks, industry executives sit at luxury events, get fat on lunch buffets, applaud know-nothing speeches, and congratulate each other while protecting bloated balance sheets and the same FAILED STATUS QUO. Meanwhile, aftercare organizations are left begging for donations and trying to save horses with limited resources. Tyler’s Sensation should still be alive. Every executive, steward, member, and insider connected to The Jockey Club and Breeders’ Cup should read this article from start to finish and ask themselves one question: How does a horse in a billion-dollar industry die like this while over $160 million sits in reserves and investments?
