A petitioner in person stood before the Supreme Court today, addressed the judges as "judicial servants", declared himself "sovereign", ordered the bench to register an FIR against an ACP in Lucknow, then flung his case papers in the air and hurled abuses before security escorted him out. Frustration with the system is real and criticism of courts is every citizen's right, but there are ways to do it: appeal, seek review, complain through proper channels, write about it, say it on this very app. An ugly tantrum in open court is not one of them. If everyone whose case drags on or who walks out with an unfavourable order is allowed to abuse the bench and create a ruckus, the courtroom stops being a courtroom and becomes a khap panchayat or some local bahubali's durbar where the loudest man in the room wins. The bench on their part reacted in a dignified manner, heard him out, chose sympathy over contempt, dismissed the plea on merits, and moved to the next case. He got more courtesy from the court than he offered it.

Scam as reported by Dainik Bhaskar - Government bought fortified rice at ₹4,000/quintal. - The same rice was allegedly sold to ethanol plants for ₹2,320/quintal. - Ethanol plants resold it to rice mills for ₹2,800/quintal. - Instead of using fortified rice, they allegedly bought broken rice at ₹2,100/quintal for ethanol production. Net profit at ₹700/quintal - Rice mills allegedly returned the same fortified rice to the government as “freshly milled” stock. Meanwhile, the original paddy was allegedly sold in the open market for profit. Reportedly, 50 lakh quintals of government rice were involved. Estimated scam amount, according to the report: ₹1,160 crore.

An FIR has been registered against six unknown policemen under Pune rural police for kidnapping four persons who were travelling from Pune to Lonavala in a car. The policemen stopped the car under the pretext of checking the vehicle and threatened the two boys and the couple friend from Dubai of filing a case if they fail to give Rs 5 lakh. They kept them in their custody for nearly seven hours and were not allowing them to communicate with anyone on phone. But one of the boy used his smart watch to send an emergency help message to a friend who contacted the police.
