We, the people of Vellore, Tamil Nadu, respectfully submit this long-standing request to rename our primary railway station from Katpadi to #Vellore. Vellore is a historic Fort City with immense national significance. It was the site of the First Sepoy Mutiny in 1806, which laid the foundation for India’s freedom struggle. Despite its rich heritage and historical importance, the name “Vellore” is not reflected in our main railway station, which serves as the primary gateway to the city. Katpadi Junction is located within Vellore City limits and functions as the major railway hub serving the entire region. As it is the principal station representing Vellore, we believe the city’s historic name should be prominently reflected. We understand that your government is focusing on strengthening and restoring India’s cultural and historical heritage. In that spirit, we humbly request that Katpadi Railway Station be renamed as Vellore Railway Station, so that the city’s identity and contribution to the nation’s history receive the recognition they deserve across the Indian Railways network. This is a heartfelt and genuine request from the people of Vellore. We wholeheartedly welcome you to our historic fort city and look forward to your kind consideration of our appeal.
