John Jones was stuck like this for 27 hours in Nutty Putty Cave, Utah, before he died.
In the final hours, rescuers considered pulling him out, knowing it could break his spine and legs. The risks were too high, and the team ultimately decided it would be more humane to let him die.
The rescue team stayed in contact with him until the very end; trapped upside down, he eventually went into cardiac arrest and died.

@mernerwast43859 @DubDotDUBBY Aaron Judge, the best hitter in the world had 541 at bats last year and struck out in 160 of them. You’re telling me anyone with a “modicum of athleticism” can get a major league hit?
English

@vtech16272282 @DubDotDUBBY This is pure fatalism and straying away from the initial argument. Anyone can hit a baseball with a modicum of athleticism and has dedicated themselves to YEARS of the technical aspects of the game and has the proper discipline. Reps and study.
English

@mernerwast43859 @DubDotDUBBY We are talking major leagues. Not T Ball
English

@mernerwast43859 @DubDotDUBBY So you think anyone can hit a baseball?
English

@vtech16272282 @DubDotDUBBY Uh okay buddy. Good luck proving that
English

@ThaddeusPlunk @doctorbattle You wouldn’t get the bat off your shoulder.
English

@doctorbattle Maybe if by "hit" you mean "touch the ball with the bat" and not "field the ball in-play and reach first base"
English

Genuine question, is it still zero if I'm not relying on my reaction time and skill, and instead just take a confident swing perhaps a bit earlier than I think? I reckon it's zero when you're trying to hit on reaction, but relying on luck, maybe?
Jordan Moore@iJordanMoore
It’s so funny when people ask a normal everyday person — “if you had 100 at bats in the majors, how many hits would you get?” The answer is zero.
English

@mernerwast43859 @DubDotDUBBY The hand-eye coordination of a baseball player is also natural born talent.
English

@DubDotDUBBY It’s not talent. It’s height and length. There are plenty of 5’8 guys that are more talented then nba players but they don’t have a 7’4 wing span at 6’6. Mac McClung is more talented than Andre Drummond. He can’t defend at an nba a level because he’s 6’2 with shit wingspan
English

@cma107 @ClayTravis The umpire got out there quicker than the catcher.
English

@ClayTravis The Braves catcher should be traded, demoted or cut. Horrible job protecting his pitcher.
English

@bellybybelly Like an actual hit. I’m sure some could make contact.
English

@Nahbichhh @SanPedroAce @TigersJUK Baseball players are born with incredible hand/eye coordination. No different than being 6’8” in basketball.
English

@SanPedroAce @TigersJUK Because it’s all about physical intangibles in basketball. In baseball you can play your way to the leauge, in basketball there’s only a limited # of 6”10 dudes and ofc they’ll be coveted from a young age
English

It’s baseball by a million miles.
Countless guys who hit .400 in college get swallowed up by the minors every single year.
DUBBY@DubDotDUBBY
The gap between college and the pros has to be the largest in basketball

@jayquintana_jr @davesportsgod Shaq admitted on Howard Stern that he wasn’t 7ft tall
English

@davesportsgod Funny, but most basketball players claim to be taller than they are. Shaq says he’s 7’1”, but he’s at least a couple inches shorter than Kareem. And I doubt Kareem’s 7’2” anymore. And no way is Olajuwan a seven footer.

@Jimfrombaseball No question Koos was great and always in Seaver’s shadow. As to HoF credentials it looks like he has good company - Andy Pettite. Must be a New York thang!
English

"Late in 1969, the Cubs came in to Shea and Jerry Koosman was pitching against Bill Hands.
Hands made the mistake of throwing at Tommy Agee.
You just knew retribution was at hand.
Koozie didn’t fool around with that business.
You gave him an excuse to drill you and he was going to drill you up around your neckline.
Leo Durocher, who thought he invented baseball, started that crap and Koozie threw one at Ron Santo and that sucker was heading right for his jawbone if he didn’t get his arm in front of it.
It sounded like someone hit him with a two-by-four.
Santo screamed, you know.
And Ron Santo was a very tough guy.
I thought Koosman broke his arm, but he didn’t.
But I think Santo went down to first base a different person.
I remember Seaver was standing on the steps, yelling across the way:
‘You guys don’t want to play that game.’
And that knockdown crap was over.
And I think it was a harbinger of things to come..."
Ron Swoboda.
"Jerry Koosman had brains, heart and guts, it was his misfortune to always be second best.
Runner up to Johnny Bench for the 1968 ROY despite 19 wins, runner up to Randy Jones for the Cy Young in 1976 despite 21 wins, always the Number Two starter behind Tom Terrific."
"Jerry Koosman threw a 90-plus fastball."
Roberto Clemente said Koosman was the only guy who threw a fastball:
"That never moved the same way twice."
Jerry Koosman's catcher in his Mets days, J.C. Martin, once said that Koosman could throw his 11-5 curveball "Any time."
In 1977, Jerry Koosman lost 20 games and had an ERA+ of 107, WAR 2.9, and lead the league in SO/9!!!!!!
He was that good!
How does a player with 222 wins, 73rd all-time, an ERA of 3.36 and 2,556 strikeouts make it on just ONE, yes ONE, Hall of Fame ballot, with only FOUR votes???
In my HOF!!!

English

@CoachMarcusHill I don’t think many parents have a problem with the coaches kid is really good. Parents watch the games and can tell. The problem is when th coaches kid isn’t head and shoulders above everyone else.
English

@JustAJerseyGir2 @DarrenRosengar1 @j_chisholm3 @AaronBoone He shouldn’t have even looked to challenge it.
English

@DarrenRosengar1 @j_chisholm3 And @AaronBoone will do nothing abt it. That’s a bad manager. He should sit him! But he won’t because his lackadaisical attitude.
English

This is completely unacceptable. Game 1, game 8, game 100, game 162. Doesnt matter. To be this non chalant, I’m sorry it just cant happen. I love @j_chisholm3 , but he talks too much and doesn’t back it up nearly enough. He needs to get serious, and now.
English

@TheWARmonger_ @TheMetsX The CF is expecting the GG 2nd baseman will catch the ball.
English

@TheMetsX The infielder can't "call off" the CF here, Robert 100% has the ability to call this ball and take it. A 90% play for Robert, btw.
English

@MahlerJames @TheFigen_ If I’m already doing 85 in a 70 and the traffic to my right is going slower than I am, lol, better learn patience real quick, I’m not getting over to go slower just so you can go faster unless your hazards are on
