The great awakening of Flare is just getting started. Everyone who is part of the $FLR community now is going to be a pillar of the community, who knew what they held even in bad times. The payoff will be worth it. 🏆
Quantic@0xQuantic

I’ll always be grateful for the resilience, creativity, and long-term thinking of the Flare community. Building through hard cycles is never easy, but that is usually where the strongest ecosystems are shaped.

From SONEL to AES Sonel, then ENEO… and now SOCADEL. Cameroon’s national power company has changed names more times than most people have changed light bulbs, yet the power cuts remain stubbornly the same. But here’s where it gets interesting. SOCADEL bears a striking phonetic resemblance to SOCADEF, the separatist armed group owned by Ebenezer Akwanga. Coincidence? Almost certainly. But in a country where symbols, language, and identity are deeply political, even a coincidence can raise eyebrows. Did they not think of it, or are we overthinking it? Maybe. However, when one hears the name of an electricity cooperation, and it sounds like a separatist group with a questionable history of kidnappings, including priests, it does not inspire confidence. Because at the end of the day, the real question isn’t what you call the company, right? It’s whether anything actually changes when you switch the name. #MMINews

Chelsea have ruled out Luis Enrique after he made several demands during talks. Chelsea withdraw from race to sign Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise. Chelsea held talks with Palace and Olise but felt finances involved beyond reach - instead plan to reward existing players & new recruits. Chelsea one of clubs interested in Kvaratskhelia. Liverpool could consider move + PSG interested.

Some Nigerians, Ghanaians and Kenyans have been led to believe that Cameroon’s President has appointed his son as Vice President. This is false. The claim appears to have originated from a report by Arise News, which cited a supposed decree allegedly issued by the Unity Palace. The document, however, is fake. The misinformation quickly spread across several media platforms in West and East Africa, many of which treated the claim as fact. What MMI News understands is this: Cameroon’s Parliament recently voted on a bill to amend the constitution and reintroduce the position of Vice President. However, Paul Biya has not yet signed the bill into law, and no Vice President has been appointed. As of now, the claim that the president’s son has been named Vice President is false. Notably, the media outlets that amplified the story have yet to issue corrections. #MMINews

Breaking News: Issa Tchiroma Bakary Calls on the Diaspora to Close Ranks Issa Tchiroma Bakary, winner of the October 12, 2025 presidential election whose victory was allegedly stolen by the Biya regime, has delivered an urgent message to the Cameroonian diaspora. He is calling on activists, militants, and whistleblowers to move beyond their internal divisions in order to collectively influence the political crisis facing the country. According to him, leadership disputes and personal attacks on social media are weakening a mobilization that remains essential. Tchiroma also denounced what he describes as constitutional abuses by the regime, particularly the creation of an appointed Vice President position, and demanded the restoration of the truth of the ballot box. He also addressed the situation of thousands of compatriots imprisoned in the post-electoral context, urging the diaspora to provide active support for them. The message is clear: unity or nothing. #MMINews

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has warned the United States against striking civilian infrastructure in Iran, stressing that such actions are prohibited under international law. Speaking through his spokesman Stéphane Dujarric on Monday, Guterres said that even if certain civilian sites could be considered military objectives, attacks would still be unlawful if they risk causing “excessive incidental civilian harm.” Dujarric added that any determination of whether such strikes constitute war crimes would ultimately be made by a court. The warning comes as U.S. President Donald Trump continues to threaten large-scale attacks on Iran’s infrastructure, including bridges and power plants, if Tehran fails to meet a deadline to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Responding to concerns about potential violations of international law, Trump said he was “not at all” worried about committing war crimes, though he added: “I hope I don’t have to do it.” The exchange highlights growing international alarm over a possible escalation in the conflict and the humanitarian consequences of targeting critical infrastructure. #MMINews

Trump reiterates threat to send Iran “back to the Stone Ages” U.S. President Donald Trump has renewed his threat to inflict massive destruction on Iran, warning the country could be pushed “back to the Stone Ages” if it fails to meet a looming deadline. Speaking on Monday, Trump said he had extended his earlier 10-day ultimatum for Iran to reach a deal by an extra day, describing the move as an act of goodwill following Easter. However, he warned that failure to comply would trigger severe consequences. “After tomorrow, they’re going to have no bridges… no power plants,” he said, reiterating his previous threat of devastating strikes. Trump also indicated he would prefer Kurdish forces to stay out of the conflict, offering little detail on their potential role. The remarks come amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, with concerns growing over the risk of further escalation. #MMINews

The Cameroonian government is continuing to adjust the electoral framework following the recent constitutional revision. On Saturday, April 5, 2026, the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji, appeared before the Senate’s Law Commission to defend a bill proposing amendments to several provisions of the Electoral Code, including the sensitive Article 170. Accompanied by the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Assemblies, François Wakata Bolvine, the government representative explained the rationale behind the proposed changes to senators. According to the executive, the reform seeks to align the Electoral Code with the new constitutional provisions, notably the creation of a vice-president position now appointed by the Head of State. The central element of the reform concerns the mandate of municipal councilors. The draft law would grant the President of the Republic the authority to extend or shorten their term by decree, after consultation with the government and the Bureau of the Senate. Until now, such measures were bound by a fixed time limit. The Ministry argues that the reform will ease election planning and allow, when necessary, the simultaneous organization of municipal and legislative elections to reduce public spending. #MMINews

While many are anxiously waiting for President Paul Biya to promulgate a law reintroducing a vice president and appointing one, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh, Secretary General at the Presidency, has been acting as one. Though he is not outrightly called vice president, his duties fall squarely into that post. Seven years ago, Paul Biya signed decree number 2019/043 of February 5, 2019, “delegating permanent signature” to Ngoh Ngoh. By that act, Ngoh Ngoh, who has been secretary general since 2011, wields so much power that he can do many things, except appoint ministers, military officers, ambassadors, and accredit foreign diplomats. Apart from that, he gives government directives, appoints and dismisses civil servants and deputy directors at the presidency, and coordinates and implements government actions. Last December, Paul Biya announced he was forming a government, yet he hasn't done so. Many have argued that the delay is because the appointment doesn't fall within Ngoh Ngoh’s permanent signature. However, while speculations are focused on several people being appointed to vice presidential posts, Ferdinand Ngoh Ngoh—often referred to as the de facto president or vice god—has been enjoying that position. If he finally becomes one, what will change from his previous functions is that he would stand the chance to become president in case Biya resigns or dies before him. #MMINews

@EvansNdi1 @africatechie You come up with these write ups as if this colonial regime cares about its citizens. We must focus on the fraud taking place in the name of appointing a vice puppet. Rising prices is nothing new in that country. It’s not their top priority.

@EvansNdi1 @africatechie It’s very important. That’s a big change to our constitution. So you believe that those fools in Etoudi can solve the food crises with all the fraud and embezzlement going on? Do you think that they are being affected by the food crises? It’s not a top priority for them.

@africatechie Why should Cameroonians respect the constitution when its leaders don’t? Why should they be law biding when the leaders break laws ? Issa Tchiroma is old news. He is irrelevant going forward. It’s too late for him now. Resistance is the only way forward.

Cameroonians tried. They went to the polls and voted Biya out of office by overwhelming numbers last October. After Biya stole the election, Cameroonians took to the streets. Dozens were killed, thousands arrested and are still in prison today. One main opposition leader died while in custody. The winner of the election is in exile in Gambia. This constitutional change was introduced on a holiday, voted on the next day, by a parliament whose terms expired last year. Of the 380 eligible legislators, only 222 actually voted. (200 in favor - 52.6%). Meaning many many legislators simply didn’t show up. Biya has changed the Constitution so many times, whenever it suited him, that it no longer means anything. He has turned it into a simple tool for keeping power. #FreeCameroon 🇨🇲

The MP of the PCRN party, Hon. Nourane Foster has welcomed the bill reintroducing post of vice president but argues that the functions of the vice president should be clearly defined. Debating the bill at the National Assembly today, she said such a bill is important for the continuity of state institutions. “I would also like to commend the President of the Republic's approach, which is based on a logic of anticipation, stability, and adapting our institutions to current realities. Our responsibility, as legislators, is to support this momentum by ensuring that the reforms undertaken are fully effective.” She said. While lauding it, she has urged that with regards to the electoral code, voting age should be reduced to 18. “Finally, since this is a constitutional matter, I would like to draw attention to the role of young people.  Today, an 18-year-old Cameroonian can be drafted, bear arms, and defend the nation. He can assume heavy responsibilities, sometimes at the cost of his life. But at the same time, this same young person cannot yet fully participate in choosing his leaders. This situation deserves to be examined” #MMINews
