@catgirlism5 Your coworker must not be a native Californian—and/or said coworker is just a crazy person. We do not claim them. ☀️

@CAgovernor OK amazing, though this is a headline with no story—where’s the detail?
English

@TerribleMaps Fr—though the Whole Wheat Jesus billboard halfway through the drive offers a break in the monotony. 🤣

Departure roll out of JFK this morning. @AmericanAir x mother nature getting their flow state on with this one. Wow.

@mc_khristina @grok What’s your take? Does the harm/waste outweigh the convenience, or the reverse?
English

@mc_khristina None of that plastic is good (microplastics). Also can’t recycle plastic film type bags—though the rest, minus bread and turkey bags, you can.
Not to mention those other containers aren’t littering streets and trees everywhere.
English

So let me get this straight, I go to the grocery store and buy … a pound of sliced turkey in a plastic bag, a loaf of bread in a plastic bag, a gallon of milk in a plastic jug, a pack of napkins in plastic wrap, a store-made salad in a plastic tub, a plastic bottle of mustard and ketchup, but they won't give me a plastic bag to carry it home because the plastic bag is bad for the environment? 🙄😂

@tfadell Love this. Fully agree. Sadly most companies miss this mark by an order of magnitude.

Most tech companies break out product management and product marketing into two separate roles: Product management defines the product and gets it built. Product marketing wires the messaging- the facts you want to communicate to customers- and gets the product sold. But from my experience that's a grievous mistake. Those are, and should aways be, one job.
There should be no separation between what the product will be and how it will be explained- the story has to be utterly cohesive from the beginning. Your messaging is your product. The story you're telling shapes the thing you're making.
I learned story telling from Steve Jobs. I learned product management from Greg Joswiak. Joz, a fellow Wolverine, Michigander, and overall great person, has been at Apple since he left Ann Arbor in 1986 and has run product marketing for decades. And his superpower- the superpower of every truly great product manager- is empathy. He doesn't just understand the customer. He becomes the customer.
So when Joz stepped into the world with his next-gen iPod to test it out, he fiddled with it like a beginner. He set aside all the tech specs- except one: battery life.
The numbers were empty without customers, the facts meaningless without context.
And, that's why product management has to own the messaging. The spec shows the features, the details of how a product will work, but the messaging predicts people's concerns and finds way to mitigate them.

Full respect to your mate, however I don’t know about this one, Robert.
The argument is interesting, however I’ve been able to get incredible results by insisting (mostly via thorough operating canons) that LLMs question my initial inputs and red team its final outputs.
Also, I don’t think I’ve read a piece with more repetition.
“The honest version of this piece is about 800 words long, acknowledges that the System 1/2 mapping is metaphorical, and presents ACRN4 as a hypothesis worth testing rather than a solved problem. That would be a more interesting essay.“ —Claude
All that said, good food for thought, and appreciate you sharing it. 🤙🏾

"The system no longer asks what the answer is. It asks what must be true for that answer to hold across structure, time, ethics, and context simultaneously," Will Burns writes here.
Over the years I've had many conversations with Will.
He is a deep thinker and here he argues that we need to talk to our AIs differently. If we want them to level up.
This is advanced prompting thinking, though. Most people won't get this until they really start working with AIs and spending hundreds of dollars a week.
If you are one of those, this will probably resonate.
Or you might comment and say "no, Scoble, that's all wrong, the real advanced people are prompting like this ..."
But Will has been doing advanced work in AI for years, so I have a feeling he's right.
I'm giving his post to my agent and will ask it to help me talk to it better.

Imagine you’ve bought a brand new Lamborghini, only to find that you’ve been driving in 1st & 2nd gear with the parking brake on the entire time. That’s where most #AI interactions are today. But we can fix this. open.substack.com/pub/wgburns/p/…

@gregmushen @RickelKendra @chamath Yes, however spending needs to be fully analyzed and a rigidity plan deployed. Optimization at both ends of the budget is critical. Can’t have one without the other.☀️
English

People pay more taxes to the federal government than California receives from the federal government. That makes them a donor state. This has minimal impact on the state budget.
The state will raise taxes through income tax, etc. if the state is spending more than they are bringing in, they can go bankrupt.
English

California is going bankrupt before our eyes.
Christopher F. Rufo ⚔️@christopherrufo
EXCLUSIVE: Multiple senior HHS officials estimate that, under Gavin Newsom, California's state Medicaid program has lost 25 percent of its budget to fraud. This would mean it is currently losing $50 billion a year to scammers, fraudsters, and organized crime rings.
English

They are not a “donor state”. That’s a lie designed to deceive. What they claim is that collectively, the residents of CA pay taxes to the federal government in a greater amount than CA gets in federal benefits. So, CA pays zero to the federal government (unless you want to count them having to repay the government for the fraud). Also, this does not count things like defense, etc…. CA has a serious spending problem the largest of which is spending on illegal aliens.
