@skylarromines @rossiadam I’d like to stay on DST. British Columbia is now doing this. I’m up between 4:30-5a fishing, the majority of the year, and enjoy the daylight into the later hours.

@skylarromines I do both. Salary job for a few fringe benefits and socializing. My businesses i am pretty isolated. I agree on not wanting red tape and being happier with my own business.

Understanding nuance is not rewarded on social media so overarching statements like the one in OP reign supreme, the truth about this is - it depends. I have done both & am immeasurably happier owning my own business. But… I hate red tape. I have extremely high agency & energy. I am good at making decisions quickly that usually work out in the end. And ofc I have the survivorship bias of my business being relatively successful. Many [most ??] people probably would be better off as highly paid employees. And that’s okay. The world takes all types. It’s also totally okay to try both & realize you want to go back to whatever you had before. In fact, if you have a nagging curiosity, you should try both. Life is extremely malleable to those who are committed to creating the reality they want. Your ideal life doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. The most important thing is that you are v clear on what yours looks like & commit to it fully.
Documenting Saylor@saylordocs

hot take: 9-5 with a high salary is better than owning your own business.

🚨WEST VIRGINIA UPDATE🚨 GOA has learned that a so-called "pro-gun lobbyist" is trying to poison the well and kill SB 1071—a bill which would allow West Virginia to lawfully sell machineguns to law-abiding citizens under the National Firearms Act of 1934.
Gun Owners of America@GunOwners

HUGE NEWS out of West Virginia today! Thank you to the Senate sponsors @ChrisRoseWV and Zack Maynard. All gun control is an infringement and this fight in WV is just the first step—other 2A states should follow suit to gut the Hughes Amendment.

This has been an interesting thing to observe in dating too. Man: wants to be ‘provider’ & have stay at home wife/mom. Woman: ‘cool - just so you know, I currently make *this much* so that’s roughly what you’d have to replace for me to be able to stay home with your kids & us to have the same lifestyle I have now’ [not even accounting for additional kid expenses] Man: that’s unreasonable I can’t do that. ??

Amazing thread about men calling themselves a "provider" On my podcast, the man always identifies his role as "the provider" -- even when he earns less than his wife. When I ask how he can be the provider if he earns less, he is stunned. It never occurred to him

That’s like men bragging about how they’re ready and willing to protect their family. They're picturing doing *some great thing*, but protecting your family is almost always much more mundane. A few conversations with God to illustrate: 3/

The failure of the executive and judicial system to protect the citizens of North Carolina is abysmal.

Is Iryna Zarutska's killer the exception or the rule? At least 2,186 (51.6%) of the inmates Gov. Cooper agreed to release early because of COVID have been either convicted of a crime since their release, or had their release revoked due to a violation This figure is based on comparing the 4,234 IDs in the newly released oversight document (which lists early releases occurring up until August 25, 2021) to the current conviction database from the NC Department of Adult Corrections For example, Patrick Renard Crews (OPUS # 0705990) is listed as receiving an early reentry date of 7/19/2021, nearly eight months earlier than his original release date of 3/1/2022 Crews has been charged with numerous crimes since his release, including assault with a deadly weapon with intend to kill for shooting into a woman's vehicle as she fled an argument with him in September, 2022 Although he did get a bond for this extremely serious violation, despite his past record, he appears to have gotten his bond revoked and has spent the majority of the time since in jail Crews was facing up to ten years in prison on the most serious D Class Felony due to falling in the most extreme sentencing category for prior convictions However, Crews was allowed to plead guilty last week and consolidate his charges to the much lesser crimes of possession of a firearm by a felon, assault on an officer, and resisting an officer Although Crews was sentenced to 23-37 months, he had already accrued 990 days of time served and will be released into the Forsyth County community this week, according to DPS records If one wanted to write an article on each one of these Cooper Criminals, you'd have to do at least nine a day to be finished before the election in November (If anyone wants the data to pursue this further, let me know)

In light of the SAVE Act, Democrats should require every gun owner to register and complete a federal background check that requires either a passport or a birth certificate. Unless Republicans think this is an undue burden on a Constitutionally protected right.

Here are the facts: the 7 states where 2/3 of Americans don't have a passport. All of them are red states: West Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Oklahoma. Yes, that's your home state, Scott. Married women whose married names aren't on their birth docs would face extra hurdles. Just because you don't care, doesn't mean it isn't a real issue. It took 17 years for Real ID (with similar citizenship requirements in some states) to actually be implemented in the US. Do YOU think that's because Americans are "too dumb" to figure it out? Oh and BTW, according to the SAVE ACT, most Real IDs wouldn't count.
Scott Jennings@ScottJenningsKY

This SAVE AMERICA ACT debate has revealed a truth about the Left: they think black voters, married women, and rural voters are too stupid to figure out how to vote. What a wild, condescending argument.

Gov @VAGovernor73 said "if we can't change their minds, we have to change their seats," and this senator @SalimVASenate did just that, defeating his predecessor whose vote prevented this assault weapon ban from passing on this very floor in 2020. It passes the Senate today.
